Why does it smell pig rich?

thanks,
jeff

trekmtbr89 12-02-07 03:30 PM

interested in a answer to that as well

GoodfellaFD3S 12-02-07 03:32 PM

Ported engine with overlap perhaps......

AHarada 12-02-07 03:35 PM

Lean misfire?

turBRO240 12-02-07 03:41 PM

What does your AFR read and what are you tuned for?

puppyslaughter 12-02-07 04:36 PM

afr runs all over the place but its normally between 13 and 15 and honestly im not really tuned at all waiting on the funds to get a PFC however it is streetported

Verbal 12-03-07 07:25 AM

Is it a true Wideband..?

dave007 12-03-07 07:32 AM

Is the turbo and manifold glowing red hot? You could be running rich and fuel is combusting in the manifold and throwing the wideband lean. A normal streetport shouldn't cause any problems.

Str8Down 12-03-07 08:21 AM

If that were the case dave, the fuel would in fact be being burnt and thereor it would not smell rich.

ptrhahn 12-03-07 08:25 AM

What's your exhaust set up?

Is it a burned fuel smell (indicating a running condition), or a RAW fuel smell (indicating FPD or other issue)?

jeff p 12-03-07 09:12 AM

is your air pump working? what mods do you have?

Jeff

puppyslaughter 12-03-07 10:02 PM

ok wow go lots of resonses. yes my downpipe is glowing red hot. i have the aem UEGO wideband. as far as other mods its bone stock other than the streetport and downpipe and high flow cat. and its a burnt fuel smell.(if by burnt you mean smokey gasy smell)

puppyslaughter 12-03-07 10:04 PM

yes my air pump is working

turBRO240 12-03-07 10:44 PM

You have a streetport a DP and HIflow cat

im sure as hell you have a PFC or other tuned ECU?!?

puppyslaughter 12-04-07 11:11 PM

no i dont have an ECU upgrade at all. here is the reason why when i had my engine rebuilt due too a blown coolant seal i posted a thread on here and everyone told me that with a just a streetport i wouldnt need anything else and it should run fine. so i went ahead and had the port done with the rebuild.apparently they were wrong! i know i need a computer uprade of some kind and i have a SAFC2 but havent put it on. the reason for that is i hear they suck and i may as well go with the PFC. if i had known all this info prior to the rebuild i wouldnt have done the port. look im not going for hugh HP numbers here i just want the car to run right i dont plan to do anymore mods to the car once i figure all this out. but the real question was not this. it was why does it smell rich when its actually running lean? but if you want to discuss how retarded i am then fine cause im sure that will be the next thread that pops up.:wallbash:

turBRO240 12-04-07 11:49 PM

Im just saying.... id get a PFC and a tune quick.

puppyslaughter 12-04-07 11:58 PM

and problem number 2 even if i got a PFC i live in virginia beach every tunner shop around here with a dyno are "mustang specilists" so i would have no where to tune it at cause im not trusting them with my car they prolly dont even know what a wankel is

turBRO240 12-05-07 01:10 AM

base maps

you can find them in the PFC section

MADDSLOW 12-05-07 01:25 AM

PFS is right in Maryland. I am driving/towing from New York next year to have him tune my car; you're lucky to be so CLOSE to a good tuner.
