Why (Brake rotor removal)?
 
So I go to take my rotors off today and I can't. Why? Because I don't have the biggest phillips screw driver known to man. Why the hell are those brass bolts in the calipers? Why can't they be free floating??? :wallbash:

Did you use that bolt hole to thread a leveraging bolt through?

Those are assembly plant screws that hold the rotors on. Hit them with blaster and let them soak while you go to Autozone and get a impact driver to remove them. Costs $15 bucks

Yep the impact driver takes the out with ease, if not your likely to strip them b4 the come out.

Brass bolts? Where?

Caliper is held on with 14mm hardware if I remember right, the pads are guided by Pins, that are retained by the wire clip on the back of the caliper.

Yep, impact driver. You can get a good kit from Sears for $25.

Sucks because they serve almost no purpose.

Their much better than free floating calipers, you can change the pads in less than half the time. No need to remove the caliper to change the pads either.

Pads, springs, pins, safety clip…. Simple as pie

Simple? Yes, but can be even simpler.

Changing the pads on the Wilwood SL6 calipers on the front of my FD require removing 2 small bolts. Pull the bolts, replace the pads, put the pins back in.

You need an impact screwdriver my friend. About $6-7 at Harbor Freight, or about $20 at Sears if you don't have an HF in your area.

Cobalt drill bit. Like a knife through butter. Just drill it out and never deal with it again.

Might as well throw away your box end wrenches and just use Channel locks and vice grips :rolleyes:

i drilled mine out there pointless.....and if you change the pads....you really should have your rotors turned.....

I'm having new drilled/slotted rotors put on, so no need. The suspension shop that's doing the install for my shocks/springs said they'd throw'em on there for me.
