Whoosh sound above 4,000rpm
Just started happening, primary boost fine then at secondary time, boost goes to 5 or 6 and you get a big whooshing sound.
downpipe Intake (fighter's garage) everything else stock I checked the couplings and they seem snug any help would be appreciated |
Take them off and check them/the crossover pipe. Also take off and check the rubber intercooler pipes, they develop a tear/split open with age.
|
Check all of your vacuum lines too.
Have you done any work to the car recently? There's no logical resaon that it would work fine one day, and then do that the next... |
Mine did. (lower intercooler hose blew open at the seam)
|
You must have a BOOST LEAK
like stated above, check your couplers and IC hoses (they are rubber and eventually tear.) U might have to take them completely off to find the tear. My bet is its the coupler coming off the y pipe.(its also the hardest one to remove) |
After searching, seems like the caa and wastegate are also possible causes of the Whoosh.
I'll start with the couplings first, any sense of how to easily check the caa or tell if the wastegate is stuck. Don't have a lift. thanks for the help |
sorry, that should be cca, charge control actuator
|
check the secondary charge relief valve hose. that was my problem and it can be overlooked pretty easily. mine had a crack in it and someone had electrical taped it back together. yeah electrical tape........
|
Does it sounds like some kind of strange animal or a bird. I have the issue with my car some times and other times it's fine. I just assumed it was my primary turbo getting closer and closer to its death.

^ search the "moo" sound
