Who makes the best intake system?
 

I'm planning to get a ecu together with intake & catback. So far I've decided to go with the pfc and apex'i GT catback. But I'm still debating on which intake system to get. I currently have the Blitz BOV and it comes with the flange to mount on either the stock intake box or the Blitz SUS intake system. So the second question would be -- how can I mount my Blitz BOV if I decided to go with something other than the Blitz SUS intake?

Simple K&N filters are the best for street driving. HKS filters flow well but don't filter for crap...go figure.

I think the best all around would be the Pettit TKT. Blitz and Apexi will suck hot air, not to good. The box styles are good to but I don't think they would flow as good as an open intake.

Mount the bov on any intercooler pipe (not stock piping). Weld the flange.

The Apexi is the best for of the open element intakes..

I think people are way tooo stuck on "cold air" boxes though.So I would venture to say Apexi is the best of them all. Though personally, I like the Blitz SUS, if only it had the whole pipe, instead it uses the stock piping.

Personally Apexi and Blitz are the best for open type...

personally, i just installed my apex'i intake myself and love it, the fitment was great and quality of the product is second to none, plus the filters out filtered all of the competition, which was important to me, http://www.gtrowner.com/induction.html thats the test i saw, hope this helps, scott

Just go with the Blitz SUS intake thats what I'm getting an ive heard nothing but good things about it:D

Can anyone post pictures of the Blitz intake installed? I saw the white FD in Super Street with that bad ass polished intake. I was wondering where I could get it, I've been looking all over for pictures to see if it was the Blitz intake. The Blitz webpage didn't help much. Pics please!..?

IMO, the Blitz is the best looking intake, however might not necessarily be the best.

If you like the Blitz filter HKS has come out with a metal element flter also.

Is it up on HKS's site? I didn't see anything on their US site other than the normal Super Flow Intake.

yeah, thats definately it, thanks for the pic Mahjik. I'm debating over that and the M2 intake. The blitz would look really nice once polished, and with piping rather than hoses. my only problem is that it looks like it may not clear the air pump(im not sure by that pic, and there's no air pump on the one in super street) and I need to pass smog every 2 years. Thats where the m2 intake would come in handy because it looks like it leaves enough room. Am I wrong? I hope so.

FYI, almost all of the intake systems will work about the same. I've had the pettit tkt, the HKS, old style greddy and now I just have 2 -30dollar Kand N filters and the dyno tells me there wasn't any noticeable difference in power. The "box" systems may work a little better but "bang for the buck" save the money, put in a couple cone filters with the M2 polished intake pipes(or have some made like I did) and put the money you save into the intercooler. If you suck in cool air from the front, the stock twins are going to heat it up any way as the air gets compressed, the intercooler is where the cooling will take place! I put in the GT spec Apex intercooler and dyno'd the car. With a special "squirrel cage" high volume fan directed on the front of the car( air volume about 60-70mph) and the car made almost 22more hp than with stock intercooler, everything else the same as before intercooler. (just for comparison I made a run with just the radiator fans on and 4 hp gain from stock i/c-The moving air across the core makes the I/C work! )

I have the blitz intakes with some MONSTER k&n filters. im going to sell them if anyones interested. they work awsome however im putting in a fmic and going single. i know this is the wrong place to do this but i figured since everyones talking about these things............. :bigthumb:

Buy this stuff:
$49 hard pipes from ebay
Oooh Shiny

(2) $30 K &N 4" Cone/Cylindrical shaped filters
These are the same as the Pettit & M2 use in their cold air kits

$10 3" Heater ducting from the autoparts store
Route cold air from the nose of the car, throught the gap between the frame and the raditator, up to the K & N's. Use zip ties to hold the 3" duct in place.

$10 Aluminum Sheet metal.
Make a heat shield so that you car doesn't suck in hot air.

imo, the stock airbox mod or aftermarket cai is the best option if you plan on using the stock smic. The stock intercooler is inadequate for cooling intake temps, and it is important for you to draw cool air instead of superheated engine air.

I was thinking of doing something similar to the "quoted" intake mod. However, I feel that the stock intake box mod is cheaper, easier to do, more efficient, and looks better. It does not draw in superheated radiator air and utilizes the entire space to the left of the radiator (as opposed to 3" of it).

all intakes basically provide the same horsepower ratings. "cold air" or not it really dont make a difference. i got the Blitz SUS it looks hot and sounds better than all ive heard. my cousin has the pettit but it doesnt quite bark like mine.

So the Bliitz kit uses the stock piping? Could the Blitz filters be attaches to M2s polished intake pipes?

i have the hks rs intake. works great..need to reoil the filter elements..but i havent had any probs with it. that is...if u dont mind the moo...lol.

blitz intake with ebay hard pipes. they work okay i guess, but they take up a lot of room (especially with the hard pipes), arent cheap to replace, and you have to clean them off when they get dirty. i think if i went back id probably rather have the apexi or m2 intake.
