Deal or No Deal? Low Mileage Chaste White for $20k+
I found a Chaste White '94 with only 46k original miles that's local to me. It's completely stock aside from a couple basic reliability mods. The car is in exceptional condition and hardly even has a single rock chip on it. Granted, I found a few after literally crawling around on my hands and knees, putting my face to paint, but I digress. The interior is like a flashback to 21 years ago...there's practically not a single crease on the leather or any marks/blemishes on the entire interior: glass, carpet, other surfaces, from top to bottom. Additionally all factory equipment functions perfectly, like new. I've seen, driven, and owned a lot of very nice cars over the years and I can honestly say this FD was easily one of the most immaculate I've laid eyes on. It could literally pass for a new car if one didn't know RX-7's and just happened to randomly stumble upon it. It's always been garaged, like many others, but the paint and interior surfaces look like they've never even seen the sun. The car is all original, has never had any paint or body work, and has only had two very meticulous owners over the past 21 years. The first being an Air Force Colonel who bought it brand new and sold it in 2003 to the current owner, a forum member. It's been in a dry climate it's entire life so there isn't a single spot of rust anywhere, that I could find anyway. It truly seems to be a 'unicorn' in every sense of the word but I'm having a bit of sticker shock since most of the car's I've been shopping have been in the 13-17k range, so I just wanted to hear some opinions, feedback, and advice in regards to the value and rarity of finding an FD in this type of condition after being on the road for nearly 22 years. This will be my first FD and thankfully this forum has been an incredible source of information thus far.

So are you gonna buy it? Saw the for sale ad and it looks sweet. If I didn't already have 2 FD's with one being low milage, I'd seriously be considering it or that other CW in AZ with 43K miles.

Jack Yes, I pick it up tomorrow. It seems like a lot of money for an FD but hopefully it's a case of "you get what you pay for"...my gut says it is. |
20K "+" doesnt tell us how much they are asking. No one can say if the price is good if we dont know the price. Sounds like an exceptional car.
|
Asking 22k, it's listed on here.

Sometimes the answer is right in front of our face but we are so close to it we can't see it.
I took an excerpt from your post to help:

Yep it's that easy :) |
I have one with 48k miles on it if someone wants one.
|
Seems to me that 22K isn't too much for that car.
|
buy it and post some pics when you do
|
Picked it up today and I'm so glad I did. Worth. every. penny.

Congrats :icon_tup:
There is no better value than a really clean well cared for (always garaged) mostly stock low mileage FD. High mileage/cheaper cars with some decent mods always seem like a better deal but typically those FDs end up costing a lot more in the long run for 1/2 the car. |

In 2002, I bought that exact same car with 43xxx miles on it for 16K. It had a $2500 stereo in it too. If anyone says Fd values have dropped, they are truly a fool.

Someone please show me where all these nice 15k FDs are because I'll start buying them  |
Congrats! If you didn't pick it up, i may have just picked it up :P Post some pics!!
I need to stop driving my FD, i'm putting miles on it.... |
I purchased my CW car in Sept. Description sounds exactly the same, perfect all black interior, smells new, great paint, not modded, original motor, clean carfax, 33k miles Happily paid $22k. You simply can't find them in good condition, non modded, in White, never mind with low miles.
I will say though, I would rather have bought Mazdaspeed's car from him....:) |
Looking for the "this is worthless without pictures" gif.

Here are a few pics with the Efini wheels. R1 lip and front strut bar will be going on as soon as they arrive this week, and the RB dual-tip is in the garage and will be installed this week as well. Suspension (Koni's/RB springs) and brakes (Stoptech slotted rotors, HPS pads, SBG lines) to follow in the next week or two. Also have a new Koyo N-flow, new OEM AST and all new hoses ready to be installed when I do a coolant flush soon. And I'll be switching the oil to Idemitsu 10w30 and running NEO 75w90HD in the trans. and diff. I don't plan on doing much beyond the above mods, maybe a '99 spec front end in the future but I'm not in any rush.

Nice!!! Congrats :)

Looks very tidy, well done
