Question Where's the redline?

I just saw someone's dash that has the redline indicated at 7000 rpm's. Mine seems to be at 7500 or 8000 depending on how you interperet the lines (the first red line shows up at 7500 but it's not solid red until 8000). I then looked through the 93 RX-7 brochure and they have it pictured both ways. The only thing I can figure is that automatic equipped 7's have a lower redline. Is this the case? Also, is the redline on mine considered to be 7500 or 8000?

you're correct about the autos. Manuals have an 8K reline, autos have a 7K redline.

Yeah, what he said. For best results, approach redline as often as possible, esp. when slow domestic "sports cars" are within your immediate vicinity ...

Can't say. I'm too scared to go that high with my original, 9-year old engine and turbos.

yes... beep - like the beeping when your key is in and your door is open, but it's a constant tone, as opposed to an on/off.

I've never made mine come on, but have heard it in videos - same thing as the low coolant buzzer (which is a beep - but constant... confusing, huh?), which I have heard - when my car was off tho, only, thankfully. hehe

I have triggered mine a couple times autoxing. It is either at 8000 or a fraction over, like 8100. One particular course I was carrying first and hit 8 grand every run.

I have heard it many times, but what's even more fun is to go to 9K and the engine turns off.

Yeah like when doing multiple donuts and you loose track of your red line. Rotaries love high rpms!!

you haven't been driving your car properly if you haven't heard the buzzer.

If you watch the best motoring videos with the in car RX-7 camera, they always hit the buzzer. it's kinda funny actually.

you gotta brin em that high once in a while... burns up all that carbon build up... Rotaries are made to rev, we have one of the most capable high revving motors!!

Talking

....yes, there is a buzzer that comes on somewhere in that redline "zone", but you really have to listen for it. i sometimes don't catch it until well into the "zone" -- it's hard to hear it over the "screaming" of my poor engine -- and i guess it doesn't help to have the radio blasting, either

I haven't heard the buzzer in my car yet. I just got my DP and MP and they're not on yet, but as soon as it can, I gotta blast it to get all teh junk out of it and back to good running condition. Think I'll go hit the interstate and look for some victims, he he
