Where to rebuild motor (Illinois)

Good day everyone!

It is time to rebuild the 13B. I live in central Illinois and I am trying to decide where to take my motor. The two shops I have been concidering are Banzai Racing in Indiana and A-Spec in Illinois. I have talked with both shops and I am impressed by both of them. I am looking for some feedback if anyone has any on either of these shops or another one I haven't thought of. The biggest reason I was thinking of these shop is that they are close to where I live so if I have any trouble I can easily go back.

Thank you for your time.

Banzai gets my vote. Even though I didn't do a whole lot of business with Chris, he has always been really nice to me, and he does great work on FDs (and FCs, and FBs...). Haven't heard one bit bad feedback about them, either. I'd definitely recommend taking your car to Banzai, and I'm sure a bunch of people will agree with me on that.

I've had A-Spec build my engines on a couple of occasions and have been very satisfied with the results.

Please don't take this wrong. This thread wont help you much. This thread will get you a lot of Banzai and A-spec fans. Both are good shops. Both do good work. Both will have happy and unhappy customers. No shop can make everyone happy everytime. Spend time listening to both and then decide with which you feel most comfortable taking your car to. Your more than welcome to PM me. And I'm sure Chris would feel likewise.

Yup - Chris' forum name is BlueTII, btw...in case you didn't have that info

Thanks for your help everyone. I guess I'll just have to make a decision and hope for the best.

You are much better off calling or emailing the shop if you would like to contact us. Using the forum or PM's is just about the worst method of communication as we are too busy during the day to check here, but there is always someone to pick up the phone.

Post some pictures of your car :D

I would vote for A-spec since I have seen the shop and met the peeps there. But another option is to send you engine to Kevin of Rotary Resurrection. I had him do mine.

My vote is Chris and Elaine at Banzai!!! Just had my FD rebuilt and tuned and it is running great at 12 and 15 pounds. GO here and you will be happy!!!!
