Where to get parts polished

I'm trying to get some parts polished now that my engine is apart and I can't find anyone with a "reasonable" price. I went to this local shop and they wanted $1300 to polish my upper and lower intake manifolds and my water filler neck. Does this sound normal? If it is then I'm leaving everything the way it is, cause I can get "alot" of more useful things with that money. Anyone know?

No way...if you pay $1300 to have your whole car polished I will bitch slap you!

I would try taking it to your local Harley shop. When I had my GSX they polished up a bunch of **** for me, for like $100. I would expect to pay $150 to have the extension manifold and piping done.

Or, you can do it yourself. It really isnt that hard, just time consuming. If you got a drill and a dremel you can do it.

Actually I went to a few local Harley shops and they all said that the company that does their polishing doesn't do car parts. I don't understand why, but that's what they said. Anyway I already had polished the upper intake manifold a while ago by myself, but it doesn't come out the way "they" do it. I was looking for a mirror polish and can't get it. Does anyone know someone that doesn't charge so much?

Rampage Racing has a shop who does there polishing and it looks really nice.

For the intake manifold it was $250, they will have one of their backup intakes polished and then just give them your stock part and the money.

The throttle body was $150 last time I asked

Give them a call

The quote I got around here was $150 for the extension manifold, and $150 for the throttle body. I'm not sure if thats a good price or not.

Efiniracing,
I think $150 for the UIM is a fair price, but $150 for the TB is way too much. They guy I went to wanted $400 for the both, but my UIM is already 90% done. It just needs some extra buffing. Would it cost less to have these parts chromed? How would it look?

Mach2 you can't chrome the extension manifold cause the chrome will trap all the heat inside. I'm not sure about the trottlebody but probbly the same case.

PMI, but what is an "extension manifold"? I thought there was just the UIM, LIM, and TB?

150 for a friggin UIM is a joke

I can have all the major engine components inside the engine polished for under 400.

I did just about everything you can think of.

For those who have seen my pictures, i believe you will agree it is a good job.

copy and paste links

This is what I had polished

Upper Intake Manifold.
3 large intercooler pipes.
FMIC
Water Pump Housing
Thermostate housing.
Y-pipe
2nd intake pipe
alternator
strut bar
2 large intake pipes

Here is what I had chromed
srutbar ends
hood prop
reinforcement bar beneath battery.
alternator bracket

If anyone wants to get this done contact me and I will talk to my polisher.
