Where to buy rubber nipples?
I need two rubber nipple caps to cap a few coolant nipples. They need to be around 1 inch od and I can't find them anywhere.
Can you guys help? |
Is there actually going to be coolant touching the nipples?
If not, go to the aisle in walmart that has shit for tables, stools etc, you can find some 1 inch o.d. caps there. |
maybe some walking cane ends/caps
|
I hear there are giant rubber people living in a small island near the Netherlands?

Anyone know where I can find these? |
Cut off the end of the hose (about 2" - 3"), insert an appopriate size hex bolt and use hose clamps to seal the connections. If you can't locate a large enough hex bolt, you can use steel rod cut to length or a pipe cap.
|
Simple ditch the water pump and thermostat housing like a real man and run an EWP. You'll lose even more weight.

It's run with a Davies Craig EWP and controller. You can see the EWP on the right in this picture with the yellow zip tie while I was mouting it. https://img135.imageshack.us/img135/...sc001965nu.jpg |
I can't see shit from that picture. I'll take a look at summits site for that adapter. I'm still going to need the nipples for the time being. I need to get my car out to the track before I start anymore projects.
Anyone know where I can get some BIG NIPPLES? Besides from Big Shirley! |
Advanced Auto Parts has them but the quality sucks so you would need to replace ever so often.. The thermostat housing one is about 1/4" larger than the rear one.
|
Well, I'll check advanced autoparts but I can't put something on that will break. I'd hate to be travel 140mph plus and have coolant spray everywhere.
Anyone else know if I can order these somewhere? |
Just loop them for the time being.

Have you looked at mcmaster parts beginning in 92805K ? They have a range of sizes in silicone that are rated for 600 F. The link is here http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?pagenum=3547 . Also, they should be able to get it to you overnight.

I did a quick ebay search for ya and found this:

I wouldn't use any rubber caps from an auto parts store for more than temporary. I've seen them fail in just a few months from heat.
McMaster-Carr is the way to go. I bought some high-temp vacuum caps from them a while back, and they're still pliable and in great shape. The bolt/hose/hose clamps method works VERY well - not super clean, but it's VERY failproof. Dale |
