Where to buy new Spirit R brake rotors?

Where can I buy new OEM Spirit R Brake Rotors or Cross Drilled Alternative for Spirit R brake kit? Thanks!

KYPREO 02-03-21 04:52 PM

New from Mazda Japan.

You can buy through Nengun, RHDJapan, Amayama etc

EVS.TurboTuner 02-03-21 09:25 PM

I was hoping somewhere convenient lol Seems easier to tell a friend in Japan to buy it.

RHDJapan.com would be your best bet

I personally don't know but I do remember seeing threads about this in the past so maybe search this section and maybe the Suspension section as well

I'm looking for Spirit R brake rotors, I checked out this site and it doesn't seem like they have it based on searching that part number you gave above. Any idea what I did wrong?

fendamonky 02-05-21 06:41 AM

What is so special and distinctly unique about "spirit r" rotors beyond the name?

I should think that any appropriately sized rotor of high quality would work.

The Spirit R cars had larger brake rotors. So if you have those brakes you have to find the appropriate rotors. Stock FD rotors won't fit.

F176-33-25XA for the Sprit R, and F124-33-25XA for the 17" wheel cars that aren't Spirit R's

Mazda USA has both part numbers in the system, but no stock

There should be two part numbers as there are front and rear rotors. The one you posted is that for the front or rear? I have RS brakes which are the same calipers, but I want the Spirit R cross-drilled rotors.

j9fd3s 02-06-21 10:35 AM

F176-33-25XA for the Sprit R Front, F176-26-25X rear.

Regular FD rotors = 294 x 22mm

Rotors from JDM FDs that came with factory standard 17" wheels = 314 x 32mm. Apparently also contoured slightly to suit the unique piston setup in those cars (as the leading and trailing pistons are different diameters)

The extra thickness is IMO where you see a big benefit from the upgraded rotors / calipers

Spirit R rotors = as above for 17" wheel cars but are cross-drilled from the factory

Now, cross drilled ones are more prone to cracking (I've seen them crack around the holes on a friend's Spirit R after 1 track day!). But they certainly look nice.

The plain 314mm Mazda ones from the Type RS are much better quality than your average aftermarket large rotora and will last a long time.

Right on. Re-reading my post I can definitely see some (unintended) snark :(
What I meant was, if Wilwood/Brembo/etc made a 314x32mm rotor then could you not just use those? As opposed to searvhing far and wide for the mazda rotor.

I definitely agree on the drilled rotors!! I want to say I heard that a lot depends on if the edges are beveled or not, with the non-beveled being much more prone to micro cracking.

That, in and of itself, almost makes me want to lean towards slotted only in the future.

Here is the complete FD brake parts list for the JDM Spirit R brakes.

These can all be purchased new from Mazda Motorsports with an account.

Are you sure those are Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Cross Drilled Rotors? Because another member above had completely different part numbers for the front and rear rotors.

The part numbers above are for a Type-RS or a RZ, not a Spirit R. Just did some research and they are not Spirit R.

fdjonny 04-22-21 02:13 PM

Wait! i can get type RZ rotors here stateside ???? it's been a pain in the butt looking for 314x32mm rotors
