When you sold your tranny...

How did you ship it and how much did it cost? I am considering selling an extra 5 speed trans and would like to have my homework done before I get myself into something where other people are relying on me to know what I am doing before I actually do. Thanks for any pointers.

Hmm selling a tranny? how much do you want/what condition is it in.

around 125 shipped. u cannot ship it UPS or FEDEX its too big. you have to ship it through airbourne express.

Airbourne express at $125 there has got to be a cheaper way!

FedEx has Freight service...I've used it many times, even for my tranny. From Ohio to Cali it cost me over $100.

As I recall, you CAN ship it with UPS, but i think you need to take off the bell housing, etc.

If I remove the bell housing won't that make a leaking mess during shipping, not to mention illiagal to ship a oil leaking item? How do you get around that?

U can try to send it by Greyhound. I bought a hood and the seller shipped it through greyhound......it was like 50 bucks. The hood was sandwich together with pallets. So it was pretty big and heavy!

Plenty of commercial freight lines will ship it without a problem, reasonable cost, and with the same tracking features as FedEx.

I actually just talked to Rob at Pineapple yesterday about possibly shipping my tranny to him and he recommended using UPS 100 weight service, FedEx freight or a company called saia (www.saia.com). Make sure to drain the oil of course. He said it was usually around $90-$100 for shipping.
