Wheel Hopping
 

Ever since I got a performance clutch put on my car, my car seems to be wheel hopping a lot. All i have is downpipe and GT-Spec exhaust. It wheels hop sometimes when i launch, and everytime i power shift. WHat do u have to do to eliminate wheel hopping? My friend told me to take some air out of my tires, and I have em at 25 PSI. Do I have to take more air out? Please help, cause i dont wanna fuck up my trans and rear.

I have tired to address this problem (apparently very common to FDs) by switiching installing the Unobtanium Differential Bushings and Pettit Trailing Arms. I have to wait until the snow goes away to see if this works, but hopefully it will work.

No, I haven't tried to install anything,.. I was just wondering if you can eliminate the problem without buying anything, because im very tight on money right now.

The_Saint is right. Getting the Unobtainium bushings will eliminate the wheel hops. Also, Pettit and M2 sell trailing arms which are also intended to decrease wheel hop. Since you don't have a lot of money to spend then the best thing you can do is to launch with a lower RPM. Try launching the car around 3400 RPM.

Well, you're not GUARANTEED to get rid of your wheel hop with the Unobtainium bushings....ask me how I know :D

I've got the full Unobtainum kit installed, including the diff bushings, brand new pillow balls in all six locations in the rear, and M2 trailing arms and toe links....I still get wheel hop, just about any time I spin the tires.

Wheel hop can be caused by a broken PPF or a worn motor mount as well, so my suggestion is that if you are trying to kill your wheel hop, you should properly diagnose the problem before buying a bushing kit, or anything else...unless you've got money to burn and you just want to replace everything :)
