Whats wrong with my FD?
Sup guys well I need some help. I had a shop install an alarm in my car, they said they would install the alarm but since it was late I could leave my car there and it would be done by the morning. So I go to pick My FD up and this is what happened. For some reason I guess the alarm kills my battery so I had to jump start it, then As I drove Off everything was right until I go into second gear everything is cool until it hit 3K rpms. When it hits 3K rpms it seems to hold the car back like if it where to stall but it doesn't, but then if I floor it again it will be okay. I have no clue what this can be I'm just pissed that. My car was fine when the alarm wasn't on it. By the way the shop just install alarm and entertainment systems and what not. any think they know what it is.

posts like this amaze me.

I think you are having a little case of the very famous 3k rpm hesitation problem. ain't FD's awesome!!!?
|
check your grounds...
|
Have them install a PFC. The hesitation will go away. :)

a) Why the hell would you even pick up your car if you had to jump start it? Obviously, something is fucked up.
b) Why would you leave your FD at an alarm place overnight? I wouldn't trust my car at one of those places if someone paid me. c) Go back to the shop, demand to speak to the owner. Explain your problems and tell them you need this unfucked right now. My guess is that some ignorant teenager they've got installing these things did some "creative" wiring. Who knows what they did. |
Yea, I'll be going back tomorrow to have the alarm taken off, If this doesn't resolve the problem, I'll most likely take it to a rotary shop to be checked out.

wow. hope the shop didnt do anything to your car. like tapping into a wrong wire. Some shops will mess your wiring or whatever just so you go back to them to pay them more money to fix it and jack you 2 times.
Solution: go to the shop and resolve it. |

Sounds like good ole 3k Hesitation.. How long has this 3K RPM things happened to you?? Is it all the time?? I used to have this issue with my stock ECU.. but not all the time.. It could be because your battery hasn't fully charged.. But I'm not an expert on this.. Try to see exactly whats happening.. It might not be due to alarm..

could his car be stuck in Limp Mode?
i would check your MAP sensor, and the hoses connected to it, you never know. also, try resetting the ECU and see if that helps anything. just throwing ideas out there, i'd have to see the car. you dont give a very good explanation |
Dodgey sparkys eh?!
|
go with what stick said
Check the map sensor, and reset the ECU--- disconect the neg battery cable for like 10-30 seconds and pump the brakes or as other peaople say hold the brake down for a bit then reconnect and start the car see if this helps. Also Fd's some times have a problem with hesitation! Hope this helps.

sigh~ this brings back memories of the time when the shop went for a "Test Ride" and crashed my car, ofcourse i got all the money back to get it fixed ;)
