I think the avg price is abot 450-500 each

badass7 03-26-02 08:35 AM

What happened to this post?? I was wondering if anyone knew if Mazdacomp sells them at their "racer's discount" ? $450 each isn't bad at all.

rotary-tt 03-26-02 11:57 AM

From what I've been able to tell the max discount you can get from a Mazda dealer is 20-25%. Mazdacomp is more like a 35% discount.

Here are the current list prices from Mazda:

Slide Section Description Part Number List Price
1-E 3 10-4001 Housing, Intermediate N3A1-10-D0B 458.65
1-D 3 10-1001 Housing, Rotor-Front N3Y2-10-570 658.15
1-D 3 10-1501 Housing, Rotor-Rear N3Y2-10-570 658.15
1-G 3 10-2001 Housing, Front N3F1-10-C00 399.25
1-G 3 10-3001 Housing, Rear N3YC-10-C50 399.25

Which parts do I need for a rebuild ? Do I need all of these ???

rotary-tt 03-26-02 04:42 PM

Since I've never rebuilt one, I don't know. I know that you at least need one of the rebuild kits (I know RacingBeat sells these). The shop manual should have tolerances to tell you if your parts are out of spec. If you are out of spec on more than 1 of these, I believe that it is cheaper to buy a Mazda Reman motor. Seems to be what the major rotary shops do...

Someone chime in who's done their own rebuild...

Most of the time you only need rotor housings unless an apex seal ate up the end and intermediate housings.

Take the engine apart and look and see (mic your parts to see if they are in spec)..ALWAYS use NEW seals and gaskets from the front to the back of the motor. NEVER reuse any seals or gaskets or springs..etc..

Just found this at MazdaTrix: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/rotorhsg.htm

Has some pics and desc of how to decide if your housings are ok.

badass7 03-28-02 01:25 PM

Thanks for the replies rotary tt and co. I think I just need the housings. I am not building this engine myself but rather sending my engine off with brand new housings for a rebuild. I think mazdacomp has the best price.
