Whats expected out of this basic setup?
Stock Sequential Twins
Stock Ports Pettit Unlimited ECU Apexi Twin Intake SMIC HKS downpipe High flow cat catback Walboro fuel pump (stock injectors) and what about the same setup with a small/mild street port. I figured I'd stay at stock boost level or max maybe 12-13psi. Thanks guys |

You wont know until you take it to a dyno. Not every car is the same but I'd say right around 300 to 330 whp if running correctly.

A fuel pump is not going to change the amount of horsepower you see. A dyno run costs about $100. You could be anywhere from 260-340whp. |
My guess with that setup is on the lower end of what moconnor suggested. 260-290

What other significant options are there...electronic boost controller, non-seq twins with a ported wastegate...and a catless midpipe? I'm going for some good hp on the stock twins before jumping into the single turbo game.

Honestly the best thing you can do for the car is get a PowerFC.
If you want you can also looking into aux. injection. Both those things will maximize your HP if you don't want to leave the twin setup. |
I really didn't want to go for the PFC. If I were to get a stand alone it was going to be the AEM (cause I'd get the tune for free). So if its not the Pettit ECU current then its going to be E-Manage Ultimate with a Plug n Play harness.
I figured with the mod list & an electronic boost controller I'd be in the 300-340whp range. Id maybe switch the SMIC for a FMIC. |
I want to be optimistic and and say that the range you think its going to get is about right, but its unlikely. Getting a standalone right now will save you time and effort because you're going to realize that the capabilities of a tunable computer will help you in the long run.
and please, please don't use the e-manage. |

flywheel hp yes, not rwhp and how do you people masure hp? the lokal rx club went to have our rexes tuned in UK last spring, the best twin setup gpt 330 at mthe wheels, over 1bar bost(16+psi) all boltons, porting, ignition fuel, ic, ewerything it was the highest number ever dynoed on stock twins(even nonseq converted) so how the hell do you all the suddenly get shitloads more? |

The majority of American power figures are recorded on Dynojet or Dynopack brand dynometers. UK and European readings tend to come from Dyno-Dynamics brand dynometers. I was distraught and confused by this comparison in power about a year ago, so I dug into the differences. Basically the Dyno-Dynamics dyno will return numbers between %15 and %18 lower than your average Dynojet or Dynopack. THAT is the reason it always seems like cars in the states make SOOO much more power with less boost and fewer mods. FWIW I'm running all the bolt-ons, ancillaries and a MASSIVE VMIC pushing 1.2-1.3bar through a set of BNRs. I made 340hp at the wheels, if (when) I put my car on an American dyno I expect to have much closer to (if not more than) 400 at the wheels with the exact same setup and tune. Self tuning, 2 step launch control, Gives control of Ignition (leading and trailing) and Injectors (primary and secondary), Airflow Meter elimination, etc just to name a few. Greddys site: "2 independent setting can now be stored and accessed via the “Toggle Switch.” 2 separate maps for the “Injection Adjustment Map” and the “Ignition Map.” (For Rotary engines, 2 separate “Primary and Secondary Injector Maps” and “Leading & Trailing Ignition Maps.”) i.e. one program for “street” and one for “race track”. " boomslang makes a plug n play harness for the FD. |
what is the point of an E-manage ultimate on an FD. it has no control over injector staging

You're going to need more fuel if you want to get any high HP. What HP were you looking for 400?

i got 330 rwhp on 15 psi with sequential twins with the following performance upgrades:
fmic, fuel pump, 4 inch turbo back exhaust, unorthodox pulley, turbo pippings, street ported, Power FC. Tunning is the most essential I tell you that much. |
Yeah it really looks like. Im going to just go single. Too much of a hassle dealing with the stock twins... also with room for things to go wrong.

I hit 334 at the wheels with, stock non-seq twins, stock ports, v-mount, electramotive techGT, walboro 255, and 14-15psi. I also made the power on a 40k reman engine. With the right tune good power can be made. I also had my tune done on a dynapack dyno.

Yeah, I like the non-seq alot better then seq. It's mostly due to being a much more reliable and simple system to work with though. I just put a new motor in my car 1 week ago so Im not boosting yet, but even when I do, I can't tell what my RWHP is cause there are no dynos on my island! Bleh. I guess I could look at track MPH's for an indication... |
