whats the difference

so i've been looking at most RX-7's, and they have a different emblem than mine, and i was like, wow?? wtf, i've only seen 1 or 2 others on here have the same emblem as mine.. it kinda looks like a spade, i heard it was called, efinite 3?? version, can some1 explain to me wut the difference is??

it's the jdm badge, there's also the flying M but to my knowledge it wasn't ever on the Rx-7. it's efini

that's the usdm badge iirc, it's very popular to change them out.

TT_Rotary 05-15-07 03:23 PM

oh ok, i didnt change it, how can u tell if its fake or real?? is there a sign of it being a true usdm?? or what not.

The spade shaped one is the USDM badge, it's the same badge that you'll find on a similar year Protege or 626, etc. It's very popular to swap that badge out for the efini badges.

There's no difference between the trim levels other than the fact that the some of the later FD models (R, RZ?) had different turbos and made 280ps factory instead of 255 like all of the usdm models. (we call them '99 twins)

I think *maybe* the last models 99-02 or the mazdaspeed cars may have shipped with the flying m badge. someone more jdm than me will have to help me out though.

EDIT: To further complicate things there's also the Spirit R (JDM)

and the bathurst but i don't think the bathurst cars had special badges. very few of them were made- it would be easier to find a kidney on the black market than find an authentic bathurst for sale. you won't find one in the states.

oh i see, so its just badges, there's no difference in the cars, like a trans am and a WS6?? hhhmm, that kinda sux.. i figured i had something special here, lol.. some1 mentioned something to me, and i was wondering..

It is called "eternal flame" and was Mazda's emblem before the "flying wing" emblem was adopted.
Personally, I like it the best. To me, putting the Efini badge on is false advertising and pretty much in the same league as window decals for your 'NOS'....lol!

TT_Rotary 05-15-07 03:41 PM

oh ok, yea, i bought it w/ that emblem.. i was wondering why it was different than the rest of the 7's on here, every1 else had the efini badge on there's.. i was like, ehh.. lol.. i bought a defect.. lol. not really, i wouldnt care. its still the sexiest car ever made.
