what's the box in the back left corner?

i was tearing my car apart yesterday for my paint shop. when i got the the back left corner of the car, behind the plastic stuff, there was this big box that looks like a control unit for something. it has a ton of wires going in and out. anyone have a clue what it's for?

Not sure what your talking about, maybe its for all the wires that go to the brake lights, turn signals, etc?

There's one in the back RIGHT corner (unless I'm mistaken) that is the ecu for the abs system.

mine is definately in the left corner. it says denso on it. it could very much be the abs computer, but it's pretty big!

The ABS computer is in the back left corner. The back right corner is the power antenna. :)

I think there may be different left and right references being used here....I always refer to the driver's side as the left.

Like the other's have said - this is the ABS computer. The other fun fact is that this unit gets its power from an oddly labled fuse ("rear window wiper" i believe). For those of us without tourings, we should remember that we still need the rear wiper fuse even though we don't have a rear wiper.

That's absolutely correct. Happened to me on the track: Lost the ABS because the "rear wiper" fuse on my base model blew. I don't have a rear wiper :p:
