What is your water temperature?

I installed a digital water temperature gauge today. My fans turn on at 160 and stops at 140. Is this normal for a FD? I read the manual, it mentions that normal temperature operation range is 158-221 and from my research, fans should come on at 220-230. I upgraded my radiator to a Koyo, so will that be the cost that temperature's low? I did a search but all results are on how to install the gauge instead of temperature readings.

Please share with me on what's your reading?

- Idle (before and after warm)?
- Normal street driving and express way?
- After racing with others?

Thanks inadvance!!!

Where did you install your temperature sensor, because your readings are wrong. As you noted, if you are still running the stock ecu, the fans will not come on until about 221F.

Where did you install the sensor for the gauge?

If you put it anywhere after the radiator, but before it hits the housings, you're going to see useless readings.

I used the original temperature sender next to the spark plugs or near the oil pressure sender.

So, you are using an aftermarket gauge with the stock sender? Or did you reuse the stock location with an aftermarket sender?

The stock fans come on at 230.

I think that's your problem. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the gauge needs to be calibrated (via resistor or other method) since not every gauge is made to work with every sender right out of the box.

For the first time ever, Mahjik is right :)

Actually, gauges are made to work with specific senders. You can't depend on someone elses brand of sender (Mazda) to work with your new gauge.
