Phaz 02-05-08 10:08 AM

added it now bud

Indian 02-05-08 10:15 AM

is this for the stock twins

IRPerformance 02-05-08 10:20 AM

Looks more sized for a Honda. If you keep the boost relatively low it will still be better than the worthless stock one.

skir2222 02-05-08 10:20 AM

IMO, to small. For the twins might be fine, but not for no single. The greddy m spec is much better then that.

fdeeznutz 02-05-08 10:36 AM

Looks like an SRT-4 aka. Neon IC.

1souped7 02-05-08 11:20 AM

Yea to small IMO

fendamonky 02-05-08 12:21 PM

Hrm... how small is too small for the stock twins if you turn the boost up?

My BNR's should be arriving w/i the next month and I was planning on regularly running 15-16psi on them. I've only got an aftermarket SMIC though..

Sorry to partially hijack/derail the thread..

There is no real way to know unless you monitor your charge temps. That will give you the best indication of whether your IC is able to perform at the level you need.

What is considered too hot? I've never really paid that much attention to my intake temp before

RX7LINK 02-05-08 01:08 PM

how are the IC pipings routed? and is the radiator re-mounted upright?? how's the gap in between?

radiator placement is crucial to FD's cooling. if its not setup right along with the FMIC, you're better off with your aftermarket SMIC. people run single turbo with SMIC, i don't see why BNRs will have any issues.

fendamonky 02-05-08 01:27 PM

My radiator is set up slanting up and forward with the top just butting into the front bumper. I went down and took pictures to show rather than explain but photobucket is down atm. I'll upload and post one later.

I would need to re-install the air duct for my SMIC.. I should probably do that anyway though.

Herblenny 02-05-08 01:33 PM

hmm.. I saw its kind of small.. Why not go with greddy one or something.. If you were to go custom, I would go larger or v..

I would probably start looking for a different IC if you are seeing above 85C. Most people with decent SMIC's see 50-65 C depending on what they are doing.

fendamonky 02-05-08 02:24 PM

Holy crap!! the few times I have had intake temp up on my commander it's been like 30-40 C.

Thanks for the heads up Mahjik! I'll def keep my eyes open in the future.:icon_tup:

Like I said, it depends on what you are doing (and the ambient temps). Low ambient temps and just cruising, people with good IC's will see 20-30C. Pushing their cars on a road course with increased boost will increase the charge temps to around the numbers I listed in the last post. That's where you need to see what your temps are when you are really pushing your car hard.

ive currently got a huge Blitz IC but i cracked it right on the mount gutted

In response to RX7LINK's question: Here is a pic of my IC/Rad setup

I will seriously need to re-install my stock IC Air Duct w/i the next couple days... I don't think it should be too much of a problem, I'll mod it to fit as need be..
