I cannot wait to crawl under and just switch the two hoses and see if it works better.... it was working for once and then stopped after an oil-pan job.... i'll bet they got switched.

If this has been it all along, off and on, for five years, i'll be a little pissed though.

this thread is worthless without pics ;)

You don't need pics to swap the two hoses going to the actuator... it's easy to find... it's the big can to the passenger side of the oil pan with a hose going to the front, and a hose coming off the side. Those hoses connect to hard lines a short ways up, that run up to near the vacuum tank, and then connect to 'noids in the rack... check the vacuum diagram.

well I have a pfc and never have had this problem even when boosting then letting off and flooring it again it always goes to full boost 11psi

Thread revival...

I think im having this same issue. I was at the drag strip and the car would launch fine, first gear boost was fine but once I shifted to second gear it was 5psi all the way to 6k rpm and then it would finally shoot to 10psi. After I shift into 3rd gear it was back to normal 10psi at all times. So basically for all of second gear the car has minimal boost/power.

Does anyone have any more information on this? What to check, that 1-way check valve, solenoid or what? I have Apex'i Power FC and a Apex'i GT Spec axle back exhaust only.

Please help me get this resolved! Next track day is May 3rd and I want to get it fixed by then!

Sticky/slow solenoid or a leaky check valve.

Sorry I'm a newb. Can you be more specific on which solenoid and check valve? Or am I supposed to just shot gun all of them? I saw the video that was posted on how to check the valve down by the oil pan.

The one you want to take a close look at is the turbo control (pressure side) solenoid E. This will often pass a bench test, but will stick while in service--the problem is that there isn't quite enough spring in the solenoid to reliably release the boost pressure acting against its plunger. I developed a work around for this that I'll try to post up later.

That is the one that is down by the oil pan right? Pass side I believe? And if you can explain that "work around" that would be awesome.

can anyone tell me where the turbo control solenoid is? finally have the car on the rack and no idea of where to look. need help asap! time is limited

there are 2 of them one is on the SOlenoid rack and the other is bolted onto the lower intake manifold

Look up the hose vacume diagram and you will see which is which
