what is this switch? & Alarm Q's

Everyday I find something new in my car.

So I'm installing Blitz DTT turbo timer in my car on sunday and I go to take off the panel underneath the steering wheel (not the column cover but below that) and notice a plain silver switch installed right in front of the lower heater grill (directly beneath the steering wheel) just a simple silver on/off switch. Anyone know what this could be?

I attempted to turn it on/off before and after starting the car with no results. also at one point there was a clifford aftermarket alarm.. the reciever is installed under the center console area near the security led, but it doesn't seem to work (neither does the factory alarm). I don't know if it's related to that.

So I either think it's part of a non-working alarm system, or part of an ignition kill switch thingy (<---technical term). any other Ideas?

Also along with the clifford alarm. when I was cleaning out the glove compartment (I got this car 2 weeks ago) I found an alpine alarm pager. Is there any way to find out what is installed and what isn't? is it worth even getting it looked at, or am I better off getting everything taken out and going with a whole new security system?

Thanks Guys

Didn't have that switch when I yanked my lower dash on Friday.

Where did the wires lead to?

More then likely it is a Valet switch for the aftermarket alarm. My advice is to have someone look at it, they will know if everything is there and if it will work.

Switch

Switch could be for the fan mod as a valet switch is usualy a momentary one. There are several ways to disable the stock alarm and it may be worth your while to have the alarm checked out if it's a good one. If the switch goes to a spade terminal behind the ECU and the other end to ground then the switch is for the fan mod.

do you think a audio/alarm shop would be the best place to take it?

Local Alarm shop

Might be worth your while if it's a quality alarm system.
