At what stage would i neet to upgrade the ECU??

Whats mods do i have to have before i need to upgrade to an ecu??? i only have stock airbox with knn filter, downpipe and midpipe, i have been told that i have an aftermarket exhaust because the muffler is stainless steel and the piping from the muffler to the midpipe is 2.5 inches thick, and i have a huge tip welded on at the end. It was like this when i bought the car. I'am running 10 pounds of boost. Do get the ecu once i open up the intake???

that would be a good idea. Most ppl don't run a mp until they upgrade the ecu bc of spikes. I would be careful about doing too much more without getting an aftermarket ecu.

The car must have some sort of boost control.... you would not be running 10 lbs. boost with full exhaust, believe me, it'd be more like 15. I spiked 12-13 with downpipe and greddy sp cat back, with the factory catalytic conv. and stock airbox/filter. Your next upgrade will probably need to be an ECU, but figure out how your car is controlling boost. It could have a manual or electronic boost controller, but if you have no electronic boxes in your car's interior that weren't factory, it's probably a manual/bleed type boost controller.

The next mod for you would be to upgrade your ECU. As for your exhaust it sounds like a custom type of exhaust from a regular mechanic. Maybe your exhaust is extremely restrictive and that is why you are only getting 10psi. Most likely you should have some type of boost creep, however, 7at11 had a pretty good point too.
