what are pillo-ball mounts?
The subject says it all...

I think pillow ball mounts replace the stock rubber bushings that mount the upper spring/shock to the car, which will result in a firmer ride. I guess it would be good to have if you auto x or something.

These are what bolt to the tops of the struts and then bolt into the chassis of the car. On Rex that means a plate with a rubber bumpstop and some cushioning with a hole in the middle that the strut rob bolts to and 3 protruding bolts on top to bolt to the chassis.
Typical "performance" pillow ball mounts don't have the rubber cushioning (this ensures the spring does ALL the work) and a low friction bearing in for the strut to mount into. Not to be confused with the pillow ball bearings in the rear suspension of our cars. |
In other words, great for racing, not so great for a daily driver.
