What kinda of 1/4 with basic mods?

What kind of 1/4 miles times can be achieved with just intake, exhaust and no cats? Also how much can you turn up the boost on a stock FD engine?

Hey Justin,
I live around the corner from you in Abingdon! Give me an email......

BTW.
With the mods you listed, (without some sort of ecu upgrade) you'll blow your motor very fast.

Justins-MR2 12-24-01 09:38 PM

Wow, I guess I will need to change my whole way of thinking when it comes to the RX7.

RussellTT94 12-24-01 09:40 PM

Justin - have you ever dynoed your car? one of my friends up at clemson has an mr2 with 301 rwhp.

You need to change your whole way of thinking about Air/Fuel management actually, and the prevention of running lean because the car breathes air better, that's all. The rotary is extremely receptive to intake and exhaust mods, similar to a 2-stroke bike, and must be given a richer fuel mixture when you open up the intake and exhaust.

I've never dynoed my car but I estimate its around 220whp. Is this the guy your talking about http://people.clemson.edu/~SSHARTZ/INDEX.HTML

yep, that's sam

high 12's

quickrx7 12-24-01 11:35 PM

yeah, it's pretty safe to assume that with 2 or more mods you should upgrade the ECU. You can get one for cheap on partstrader for $500 or so (Pettit, G-Force, or M2) But with intake, and full exhaust with ecu you're looking at mid-high 12's at around 110 or so. Boost can be taken up to 15 psi on stock turbos but not recommended unless you have some motor work, upgraded fuel system (secondary injectors and fuel pump) and a great tuner. 12 psi is usually safe high level for stock twins.
