What drew you to the fd

What drew you to the fd? For me it was its amazing cornering. My friend and I have a really twisty back road that we race on, and i had a 88 4cyl mustang that turned really good. He got tired of losing so he found a AE86 Corolla. So i got the fd and have loved it ever sence.

RX7 RAGE 06-17-08 10:26 PM

for me it was the shape of the body

michael_iler 06-17-08 10:31 PM

it does have a really sexy body. lol i think that the doors are my fav

MX722 06-17-08 10:40 PM

For me, it was a few things.
One was that it was something different. The design of the car and the rotary. I like alternative stuff from the norm. So it fit right in.
Another was how rare it is. Up until i got mine, i had never actually seen one in person. So that kinda attracted me as well.

Natey 06-17-08 10:49 PM

I started with an S4 with phone dials, then bought a 91 coupe, then I lucked into an FD...It's been a love/hate thing ever since.

The looks and cornering are what sold me ( lol, about 10 years before I could afford one).

That is the same exact answer I would have to give.

michael_iler 06-17-08 10:53 PM

Ya they are rare over here there is one more around here but thats it

GreatShamanGT 06-17-08 11:25 PM

Pictures never did the FD any justice. You have to see an FD in real life in order to appreciate it to it's fullest. I love the Rotary engine and the handling is perfect too. Also, the doors are also very nice. Also, a lot of girls with mustangs and RX-8s always would much rather ride with me than their own car or any other guy with an EVO or SRT-4.

michael_iler 06-17-08 11:29 PM

LOL the guys with srt-4s are suck dicks and think that there car is unbeatable. it makes laugh see the look on there face when they lose

GreatShamanGT 06-17-08 11:41 PM

In the end it's still a neon and FWD

96fd3s 06-17-08 11:48 PM

A number of things attracted me to the FD
The main thing is the looks. There are heaps of production cars out there that are reasonably powerful/fast but none of them do it with the looks and style that the FD does.
Also the fact that the FD can roll with and beat pretty much whatever you throw at it (within a reasonable price range). Old guys in their Porchas etc think twice about racing you as they dont want to loose in their 50k+ car! with their hot girlfriend with them to some young guy whos car sounds like a helecoptor lol

The basics of it are super sexy styling and a wicked power to weight ratio..it dosent matter how much hp youv got if your heavy! we aint heavy =)

mrjeffr0 06-18-08 12:00 AM

besides the fact that vin deisel drove this car in that cool movie i got my shell for FREE.99!!!!! + driving it and looking at it is equally as fun. =)

Ked63madison 06-18-08 12:17 AM

my neighbors 93 r1 yellow mica. i already owned my 91turbo w/ 67k org. miles, but never saw a 3rd gen in person. it looked tooo mita to me till... long story short i own that rare yellow mica car. n my neighbor missses it dearly

JazzyFD 06-18-08 12:20 AM

The cars body and shape are unmatched and the rotary engine.

prrex4ever 06-18-08 12:34 AM

The body and the cockpit type interior. It just seems to flow!

money 06-18-08 02:33 AM

everything ( body, engine..)

spdstarx7 06-18-08 03:40 AM

the looks, the rarity, the power = PURE SEX =)

Eggie 06-18-08 09:09 AM

The competition is FAR heavier, and the FD has a fantastic suspension.

LIES!!!! SRT4 has never lost!!! :anger: It's so fast it warps the spacetime continuum. The only reason it may have appeared to lose was because it did a few laps around the universe first!!!

Back on topic...

Looks - After 15 years it still looks amazing to this day, that's a testament to it's design. It really is timeless.

Performance - The car is 15yrs old and is still right up there.

Thadeous 06-18-08 10:32 AM

I first 'saw' one when I was like 11 in Gran Turismo 3 A-spec.. and I wanted one ever since, so when I got some money I ended up getting one, and I couldn't be happier

I have a better question...what would turn you away from the RX-7? NOTHING! (well, maybe the money pit thing, but isnt that any car, really?)

Looks...the curves on the RX-7 just scream sexy...is there any car on the road with looks like this? even after 15 years, my R1 still looks amazing, sitting in my driveway, blown motor and all...
Performance...ive owned almost all types of RX-7 (only the Turbo II and GSL-SE got away from me..damn) and they all handle magnificently, but when i drove my cousins R2( which happened to be the first time i seen one in person) i melted in the cloth seats...like haveing sex for the first time over and over...the handling is outstanding, and when i took my buddy for a drive in it (he owns a 2003 Cobra) he couldnt believe how quick it was...
attention/rarity...every where i drove, i always get az thinbs up, it so beautiful. and the fact that its always fun to play "what kind of car is that?" with people...hilarious. some said its a ferrari, some say its an 'illegal import', i got a parking ticket and the cop wrote "2000 toyota celica?????" (not lying, had no idea, wrote those '?' too! hilarious!)
and finally, potential...you can take this car up to any level you want!

JHew84 06-18-08 12:02 PM

Like most everyone else it was initially the looks of the car that caught my attention. I'm also a glutton for the rare and different. It really is just the total package for me.

GreatShamanGT 06-18-08 12:47 PM

If you compare the FD to Corvettes, Evos, STIs, BMWs, Porches, and Ferrarris, the FD still looks better.

DeeSan 06-18-08 03:23 PM

- It's rare and unique
- The interior feels racing style like no others!
- Perfect Balance.
- Rotary engine.
- the frame i needed to fit Veilside's Fortune kit on.

Red95FD 06-18-08 06:41 PM

The body shape, the interior design, and when you sit in the drivers seat everything you look at has beautiful curves. And it's a blast to drive! :mspank:

Azcamel 06-18-08 07:38 PM

power and style, same thing that drew me to the supra

poss 06-18-08 09:08 PM

The fact that I could afford it drew me to it. The fact that it still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it (after over 7 years) is just icing on the cake.

jaydok 06-18-08 09:44 PM

I love the body and the starkness of the interior - pure sports car with minimal fluff and gadgetry. And I love the attention. I had owned my car less than 5 minutes before I got a compliment from a perfect stranger. At the gas station, I can park beside a $90,000 Porsche, and people will still walk past the Porshe to tell me they love my car and ask me what it is.

janrx7 06-18-08 10:07 PM

its one of the true japanese sports cars, great looks, engine with tuning potencial, great balance, sound of a rotary engine. also the price, for half the cost of a supra, you get a car that can run with the big boys

demkog 06-19-08 11:37 AM

It was a car people liked when you modded it and not a restoration project like all my other cars when it is not factory people say it isen't right. also found one at a cheep price and a RX-7 TII took me for a ride and showed me how much fun turbos were.

Phaz 06-19-08 07:33 PM

for me it was the shape, the door and the 99 spec rear lights, and the sound of the car when the second turbos kicks in, pure xxx art

RX7LINK 06-19-08 07:58 PM

unique and beatiful designed body, engine, interior

details of every part goes perfectly together

not too fast, not too slow, not too big, not too small

its PERFECT when it comes to innovative/great performance car design

yup that was it for me too, when i saw it i thought it was one of the most beautiful cars ever (of course i was only in 2nd grade so i hadnt seen very many lol) plus that particular car i saw was a CYM so it looked all exotic.

The cookie dispenser in the center console. Honestly, do we need this thread every month? The FD is great and all, but seriously...

wolf_9782 06-20-08 03:39 AM

let ppl have their fun. you're amidst FD junkies who get the itch at work and cant do anythin about it except post here haha.

Zhé 06-20-08 07:05 AM

unique body, curves, back lights with the bumper combo = sex, spinny things in the engine, how F'ing fast a stock one is, how much sexier the back lights with bumper combo + 99 spoiler is.
F**K other companys for tryin to copy it :icon_no2:

yah

Tim Benton 06-20-08 08:10 PM

The reason hasn't changed in the 14 years I've owned mine - It's the car's eye catching design that hasn't aged and still looks fresh everytime I see one on the road. On the rare occasion that I do pass one on the road I still think to myself - what a great looking car!

Tim

Monkman33 06-20-08 08:35 PM

The thing I like about the rx7 is it was originally designed to be a pursuit of the perfect street legal sports car.... with air conditioning.
