What does this part do?

I got my car back from Mazda and it runs like crap. Had a new engine put in. The blue connector in the picture is disconected (yellow arrow) and not all the vaccume lines are covered with hoses (only one that I can notice).

1st What does the blue connector do.
2nd Are all the vaccume lines supposed to be covered with hoses?

rynberg Jul 1, 2002 01:29 PM

1. The blue connector is not used on 5-speeds.

2. Your question is not clear.

None of us on the forum would trust a Mazda dealer to correctly re-install an engine and turbo control system. If things are incorrect, I would take the car to KD Rotary or PFS and try to get Mazda to cover it since they can't do it right themselves. Good luck.

opps here is an example picture of what I am talking about (this is not my car). the yellow arrow is pointing to the blue connector.

keep forgeting the picture.........

c00lduke Jul 1, 2002 01:37 PM

pretty sure thats is for electronic EGR's

RX-8 Jul 1, 2002 02:43 PM

I can't seem to find the other end of the connector. Does anyone know where the other half is located or connected to? And would this affect the way my car runs drastically? Please help.

DamonB Jul 1, 2002 04:21 PM

Like rynberg said; the blue connector is unused. There is nothing to plug it into.

red93rx7racer Jul 1, 2002 04:34 PM

i know one of the vacum lines is only used on auto's, and i havnt found a unused connector. what exactly is your car doing?

Dont_Be_A_Rikki Jul 1, 2002 05:18 PM

yup you are missing some lines alright also you should do all the hoses in the upgraded hoses I can help or a quick fix and know it is done right would be takeing it to PFS and they will fix all the issues you have:) but if you are on a budget I can help ya out:D

Two questions!

One - what year is your car?

Two - Is this a rebuilt motor or a j-spec?

It looks like you are missing two hard pipe vacuum lines that come from your air control valve. If you look to the left of that connector there's two hard pipe vacuum lines coming straight up. Those two connect to your air control valve, directly above it, but there's no connectors from the air control's, that I see. Do a search on vacuum diagrams. Good luck!

see ya,

There should be a solenoid on top of the ACV. I see the plug but no solenoid. No second turbo without that.

The Blue connector is not for automatics, it is for Cal 93 or 94 EGR valve. Leave unconnected on other cars. Doesn't affect the way ANY of the cars run.

Do the simplification and get rid of as much rubber as you can. The rubber hoses get hard and are breakable in less than a year. My hoses were changed about seven months ago and the night before last I snapped both the nipples off of my turbo pre-contol solenoid. DOH! How much does that thing cost? Anyways, you also might want to consider the turbo simplification while you're at it.

Thanks for the info Rikki:) But that shit looks to scarey for me. Guess I'll just give Peter a call on monday. Peace

JONSKI Jul 1, 2002 08:00 PM

Don't let it scare you. It's more tedious than confusing. I'm finding that out right now. This shouldn't be scary at all: http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...lification.htm

I know how you feel my car never ran right after mazda put in a reman engine.
I didnt have a boost gauge at the time so I couldnt tell how bad it really was. After spending 6 months trying to quick fix the problem I finally pulled the UIB and did the job right.
Now I remember why I bought this car.
Its really not that big of a job if you take your time and use the diagram.

RX-8 Jul 1, 2002 08:23 PM

Thanks guys. Your boosting my confidence:D Maybe I'll take a stabb at it. I know what you mean toecutter. I take my car to the dealer for a new engine and it runs worse!! I've actually forgoten why I bought the car with all these problems but I am trying to hang tough.
