RxSeven1 01-11-04 12:18 AM

your sig always scares me....that fd is getting pretty close to that viper

David Beale 01-11-04 10:35 AM

The sensor is on the pass. side floorpan. It's a warning the floor is getting too hot ;) .

SNracing 01-11-04 10:51 AM

anyone ever had their exhaust light actually light up?

donny 01-11-04 04:14 PM

once you go to a Power Fc that light is used as a "check engine" light.

Cihuuy 01-11-04 04:28 PM

wait a minute... how come i dont have that switch/light?

Isnt the overheat exhaust light on the dashboard?? or is it for U.S. cars only?

tampafd 01-11-04 04:30 PM

us for sure. i did not think some foreign market cars had check engine lights

can you elaborate more on this, I have never heard of this.

Azaka 01-11-04 04:32 PM

I've never heard of that either.

Cihuuy 01-11-04 04:36 PM

We have the check engine light, and the overheat exhaust light is next to it if im not mistaken...

tampafd 01-11-04 04:50 PM

the pfc flashes fault codes on the exhaust overheat light instead of the chk eng light

Azaka 01-11-04 05:34 PM

^you sure about that? I thought the pfc didn't have any codes. I know the manual says that you have have the pfc flash the CEL if the knock goes over a certain level but I didn't see anywhere in the manual where it talked about flashing the exhaust overheat light.

Hyperite 01-11-04 05:45 PM

PUSH It! :D

GsrSol 01-11-04 07:03 PM

There is a sensor is the passenger floor/trans tunnel. The light will come on if the cat gets too hot, heats up the sensor, and could possibly heat up the cabin.

rzograbian 01-11-04 07:12 PM

who has had that light actually turn on and helped in some way?

tampafd 01-11-04 08:00 PM

stock it is for protection of the cat and motor. your feet also! i read that in the pfc manual.

SVT Squasher 01-11-04 08:13 PM

How long have you had your car? You never once thought to push that button, I mean light.LOL. How many people here actualy own a FD on this forum? A button that will over heat the exhuast, hum thats cool, havent figured out why I would want my exhuast to over heat.:)LOL.

Sorry I just thought it was funny to think of it as a button.

if any sensor readings are out of whack the pfc will light up the exhaust temp light. then you can go the check sensor screen to find the culprit, which will be highlighted. it will light up the CEL for knock if enabled as you mentioned.

I second that.

InsaneGideon 01-11-04 10:45 PM

I get a lot of comments from new passengers (3rd gen virgins). "Why would I want to overheat the exhaust system?? And why is it on MY side of the car??" Always funny...

David Beale, is the sensor closer to main cat or pre-cat?
