What to do with rats nest connectors after simplification?
 

Eliminated pretty much all the solenoids and have an external rack for controlling the twins.

Curious what everyone does with the connectors and also what the consensus is on retaining the FPR solenoid. I plan to move to a FFE Step Up kit which has its own FPR, do you still need the FPR solenoid for hot starts?

Cleanest would be to track and delete each wire all the way back, retaining and consolidating grounds but that would involve essentially delooming the entire engine harness which seems... daunting with the engine still in.

Few approaches to this -

1. Just leave the connectors be. They aren't visible, they aren't hurting anything.

2. Cut the connectors off. This can be tricky - some of them are in series and if you just cut the connector off you will break the circuit causing other things in the engine harness not to get power - I believe the ISC's power is fed off of one of the circuits and if you just snip the connectors off the ISC won't get power. You would need to snip connectors, join the series wires, and wrap up with tape so it looks clean.

3. Unwrap and pull all the wiring. Biggest job by far. This is only worth doing if you are comfortable with harnesses, it's already out of the car, and you're doing some restoration work to the harness (fix broken tape, replace broken connector shells, etc.).

2 and 3 both have pitfalls - if you don't make good electrical connections or properly insulate wire you could have all sorts of problems.

As far as the FPR solenoid, just leave it. It's not in the way and it does its job wonderfully. Ask anyone with an FC that has hot start issues - that solenoid helps out a lot with hot starts.

What I did was de-pin the connectors and used heat shrink over them. Leaves a much smaller footprint, but allows you to easily revert back in the future.

Where did you get the mazdaspeed stuff? I'm doing a much less nice version of the GTC build but am having devil of a time finding things like the GTC corner light covers

Got lucky with my searching and asking around on the Facebook RX-7 for sale groups. There is a company making the GTC light covers though; they are currently in work. They've produced a carbon fiber overlay so far and are working on a clear one to replicate the original. I'll post a link below.
