What do the (2) hard pipes from the LIM connect to?

Kinda silly question...however, my car has been down and the engine sitting in my basement for sooooo long that I have forgotten more than I remember about the engine bay...

I *think* one pipe leads to the air box while the other would lead to the air pump (mine has been gone for a while)... if true, which should be routed to the intake? and what should be done with the other?

Can anyone give me a quick 2 liner as to how to connect these pipes? Thanks!

Unless you HAVE to have it... why not just remove the air pump?

That's what I am doing. However, Keep all your parts in case emissions become an issue in your area.

My only concern with removing the air pump is the fact that your water pump pulley now has VERY LITTLE contact with the belt. I think someone out there (pineapple racing) makes a bracket to add a pulley for the belt to wrap around, give the water pump MUCH more contact area.

Thanks for the reply... I've been running w/o the air pump for ~10 yrs, no need to worry about the contact area of the water pump pully, just need to find the right sized belt (get an underdrive for the water pump, should also come with a belt).

Problem, is that I can't remember how to plumb the metal pipes... where do they connect on cars with the air pump? I thought that one of the 2 pipes connected to the outlet of the air pump (via a hose), while the other went to the air box (via hose)...just can't remember (a) if this is right, and (b) which is which????

The end that points toward the passenger side headlight goes to the airbox.

Ahhhhh, thanks a bunch for that info!

For those w/o the air pump what do you do with the other pipe????

a) cap it
b) leave it open
c) filter it in some manner
