What Coolant/Water Mixture?
 

I've seen a lot of people advocating running as close to 100% water as you can get away with, or to run 100% water and then add Redline Water Wetter. Why is this? Water boils at 212F and a good coolant mixture boils at 276F, wouldn't that give you better protection? What am i missing?

Can you run the Redline Water Wetter with Antifreeze or only with water?

pressure ... 15psi kicks bp 40F, 50% EG kicks it up 10F.

they are running so much water (just like me) because water has a higher heat transfer rate so it can cool more/faster. the bad thing is that it boils over faster so you gotta keep an eye on the temp. (your suppose to be doing that anyways). personnaly i am running about 10-15% collant to water ratio and have made the air sheilds and it has dropped my temp from a normal 200 degrees to about 180-185 degrees. when i go on hard runs/extended boost runs, it reaches up to 200 degrees again but then quickly drops to about 185 after about 30secs to 1 mins of cruising/ poping my hood and turning the fans on high. the boil over should be about 230-240 degrees but then again i figured that if i high that high anyways, im already screwed (i personnaly shut my car down when it hits 215 degrees). it has only happened once to me in traffic when i did not remember to turn my fans on, but luckly it did not boil over but thats another story :)

another hint is to get your cooling system as clean as possible! flush flush flush with distilled water untill it runs clear and dont forget to drain your engine block of water too. there is a screw at the bottem of your engine near the tranny fluid nut i think, do a search on it to find it, if you cant, ill take a photo of it (its not gonna be the best quality photo btw)

anyways, on a side note, water wetter sucks ass, its a waste of time!!! i have used it in 5 cars and have never seen any type of change in the temp what so ever! I suggest making air sheilds and lowering your antifreeze ratio a bit. also another thing to think about is that you must put enuf antifreeze if you live in the Mainland (on the continantal US) so that your fluids dont actually freeze in the winter. here in hawaii, its always about 70-80degrees so we dont have to worry about that type of stuff, we do have to worry about rust though :( but thats another story
