What causes coolant to overFlow???
 

ok I check my coolant on a regular bases .. the last time I checked was ~ around 1000~500kms ago and it was 2 bars above F on the coolant dipstick band...

anyway 2 days ago, I found a small puddle of coolant on the garage floor after a hard day of driving,..

I thought it was a leak in the coolant tank,... But it turns out it leaked through the purge hole, I check my coolant and it read to be like 7 bars above F :eek: , and its been like that for a day or so (yes the car was ice cold when I checked it)... any ideas?, should I drain some out, or just let it continue to purge out the hole...

It could be one of two things. Bad collant seals. Pray it's not that. I am having a new engine put in because I have bad seals. The reason why I had bad seals was because of the second reason, a bad thermostat. So try replacing the thermostat first.

I just came onto the forum to ask the same exact question. I don't even want to start it right now... so I'm waiting for the same answer.

It could also be a small leak somewhere that prevents the coolant from being sucked back in as the car cools. It could be a hose or a seal on the radiator itself.

When the coolant gets hot it is some of it is pushed into the expansion/overflow tank and as it cools the vaccum is supposed to draw it back into the system.

Have you checked / replaced the AST cap?

Replace the lines from your ast to the coolant tank..also use clamps and replace the radiator cap with a 16 psi one. This solves the problem 90% of the time.

air in your cooling system can cause coolant to spill onto the ground. burp the system. It will no longer gurgle if you do.

yeah I've replaced my stock AST with pettits aluminum can, the coolant seemed to burst out from the coolant tank located on the passenger headlight , the one with the dipstick band....

I hope its not anything bad :( I'll try to get a radiator new radiator cap this tommorrow or somthing

What I meant was, have you replaced that cap recently? The reservoir is fed usually from the AST. If the cap goes bad, it may either not let any fluid out, or may not hold to the correct pressure. The other possibility is that your fans aren't coming on when they are supposed to, ie. at 94 degrees.

well I replaced the ast with pettit's a few monthes ago, and the coolant filler cap, I have not replaced yet...


anyways I bought 2 new caps today, because the pettit cap was a 13 psi cap, since you guy recommend that I run 16 psi ones,.. and the other cap the coolant filler cap, the yellow labeled one with the little handle type things, that cap does not have a spring type mechanism on it , but the one I bought the 16 psi, one does, is this the right kind of cap, or do I need one with out a spring??

If the cap fits it wil work...Buy some hose and replace the line from the coolant tank to the ast..!!! Cut a small piece off from the original cheap hose and take it up to the auto store so you know the size/diameter, get about 3 ft...and buy 4 small clamps to go with the tubing..

does it matter what kind of material the hose is?? or do I have to go to a automotive store and get specific coolant type hose,.. hmm I gues any rubber hose that could with stand a certain amout of heat should work..

Any, but use thicker hose than the factory did...
