What can be removed from UIM when doing NON-SEQ Conversion

I found a UIM laying around my house, it has no electronics at it at all. They have all been removed and welded shut... Can this be used on my car for non-seq even though Im running a stock ecu..

also,

what its the purpose of the thing on the LIM its on the outside, its visible and has 1 vaccume line running out of it... looks like an actuater but I know its not that, Was curious because Im trying to clean up all my parts before putting it back together.

Thanks,
Greg

if you dont care about emisions all you need on the UIM is the idle air control, the LIM sounds like your talking about the EGR valve <its on the outside near the turbos> should have two little holes and 2 studs to hold it on

In the last image..... What is this thing that the hose is running out of, can it be removed when going NON SEQ. And what does it do,

and what all has been eliminated on the modified UIM that I haev shown, and can I run this on a stock ECU.. I found this laying around so Im seeing if I can use it

meh

puma Jun 16, 2003 05:18 PM

the black thing is the ISC, don't think you can remove it but i might be wrong, with certain type of ecu i guess.

i don't know what you are talking about in the last image but if it's the EGR, usually you can remove it but it is a CA LIM you have because the EGR has a wire coming out of it so you will get a code if you remove it..

vudoodoodoo Jun 16, 2003 05:20 PM

Sorry, double post.

vudoodoodoo Jun 16, 2003 05:20 PM

That's the EGR. I removed mine.

You will probably get error codes if you don't have all that stuff and use the stock ECU.

spoolage Jun 16, 2003 05:34 PM

so just leave the EGR connected?

thanks,

If you are on the stock ECU, just about everything that has a connection to the ECU will throw a code if you remove it. However, if you do a few searches, you can find the resistor ratings to trick the stock ECU into thinking some of them are still there.

Snook Jun 17, 2003 12:05 PM

ok

from left to right on the pic with the stuff on the uim

double throttle, 2 Automatic Warm up system things, last one I dunno
I only had 3 but you have 4? maybe a california thing

the blue connector in the middle of the uim is the air intake sensor leave that!!

I bet if you take off the egr you will get a code. the best way to try it out is to put it in the car and start it up without it. you could always pull it off the LIM and just let it rest somewhere plugged in.

You are going non seq on the stock ecu?
Why do you want to go non seq? I don't think it's a good idea I'm not sure what you think will be better about it. The only advantage is that there is no shit in the engine bay its very laggy even with full exhaust and intake and higher boost. I know :(

if you need any help just pm me I've got the non seq down now

can anyone tell me what the black thing does in the picture w/ the unmodofied UIM???

It has a connecter that hooks up to it, the reason I ask is because I have a UIM thats been modified and has everything removed, the cold start double throttle, and Im trying to find out if I can remove this black thing... i'd like to know what it does before I pull it though.. if i can pull it

spoolage Jun 19, 2003 12:48 PM

I need to know if it can be removed when running a stock ECU.

Fd3BOOST Jun 19, 2003 05:56 PM

Its the ISC solinoid valve, you dont need it.

Fd3BOOST Jun 19, 2003 05:59 PM

Oh wait you have a stock ecu?
You will need it i believe, sorry
ISC=Idle Speed Control valve.

spoolage Jun 19, 2003 06:00 PM

Alright, thanks... Thats what I've heard, was just double checking. Would be nice to use a manifold that has all that crap off of it. I guess I'll just use the stock UIM till I get a pfc.

Thanks

Fd3BOOST Jun 19, 2003 06:01 PM

BTW you can remove the EGR with no codes popping up. Idid it and never had a problem.

Fd3BOOST Jun 19, 2003 06:01 PM

Yea homey get a PFC or at the very least a Purple box used for $500 and you can eliminate all that stuff, even the ISC.

spoolage Jun 19, 2003 06:05 PM

I'll have to think about that. I'm a student and 500 bucks will take me a full weeks worth of web design.

Yea, I just disabled the EGR for now, I'm already broke after ordering my dp and I still have to get a boost controller. Cant afford the block off plates, will have to order those when I get the new computer, which ever I get. If anyone has a computer for sale hit me up. I'd be interested.

Thanks,
Greg:D
