What are the best clutches for 450hp now, for the money.

I have done some searching and the exdey twin clutch or multiple seem to be the favorite for driving on the street amnd for track fun.

I am looking for being streetable. Most the info i have found are around year 2003-2004 that the exedy was the one to get. Is this still the same. I saw HKS has one also for around the same price. What the cheapest, and will last, and be streetable now a days?

I'm thinking about getting the exedy twin disc for around $1600.
Is there anything for around $1000 ?

hrm... i dont think you need to go twin plate quite yet...
my buddy was running 600hp on an H22A block with a single plate. he didnt switch over until 750 horse to a triple plate.

Anyone else confirm a single plate will hold 450-500 hp ?

I wouldn't put single on over 400 hp but that's my opinion..I recommend the os giken STR but they are expensive..

Call the guys at rx7.com (972-530-3335) They have some exedy clutches that are not listed on their website which should hold 450 (easily) for under $1,000. I just ordered the stage 2 from them and some other fun bits to support my BNR upgrade. I hope to be putting around 400 hp on the ground after all is said and done. If you want I can let you know how the driveability of the clutch feels..

I PM'd you about this. I've had two different FD's that were both single at one point pushing upwards of 400rwhp and one was nearly 450rwhp. On both of them I used the Spec Stage 2 Clutch. They both held extremelly well and had a near OEM feel to them. Best clutch I've used so far. ACT straight-up sucks and you don't need a twin-plate clutch for your power goals.

Also, all clutches are rated for torque and not hp. RX-7's generally don't put out much torque which is why a multi-plate clutch is completely unnecessary unless you're putting down 600+rwhp. Hope that helps...
