The plug in the first and third picture is for your EGR, thats only hooked up on FD's in calif, so don't worry about it.

ok thanks um would you happen to know why my coolant light and buzzar would be going off when i have coolant and we replaced the coolant sensor.

The 2nd and blown up picture is a test jumper which, if grounded, should turn on your cooling fans. Its wired up to with the black box that attatched to the ECU.

The black box was part of a Mazda factory service to make the fans stay on after the ignition is turned off if the coolant is hot enough indicating that the car was turned off without ample cooling time and conditions. It sort of like a turbo timer but in my opinion its really pointless since the water in the radiator isn't flowing so its not like it could help stop localized boiling or anything. But anyway, thats what its for.

This doens't have anything to do with ample cooling "Time" it has to do with temperature.

Believe it or not it does provide some circulation despite the water pump not running. Just the air flow over the motor pushs hot air out of the engine compartment and the cool air moving across the radiator cools the water in it enough to cause some movement in the sysrem. I live in Fla. and there is a significant difference in the engine compartment from running the fans as opposed to not running them.

In driving spiritedly then shutting off versus coasting a little while before shutting off there is noticable difference in time. The statement was in reference to having load on the engine and not allowing enough time for the engine (and coolant) to cool down. Therefore it has enough to do with time to warrant its mention. Just giving you another perspective to look at.

I moved from Fort Lauderdale 1.5 ago. That aside and considering thermodynamics, you are correct, there is SOME movement. Heat is characterized by high kinetic energy while colder areas exhibit less kenetic engery. The heat energy moves from hot to cold areas as there is less resistance (much like electricity) and therefore the water "moves". However its hardly enough movement to quell localized boiling much faster than simply allowing the car to sit and cool naturally. It works, but a properly filled cooling system and some lighter driving as you get close to your destination does a much better job.

Given an electric water pump, I'd love this idea, but with the stock mechanical equipment, it helps but not much would change without it. Mind you this is just MY OPINION and it's not important enough to me to even attempt to prove anything.
