Went to the DarkSide (non-seq) and love it, but...

...I need to learn to launch my car all over again after owning it 6 years.

I just finished the non-seq job a couple days ago and took it to the drag strip today. I love the response and power on the streets when I'm on a roll at 4000 rpm and up, holy crap I have power that wasn't there before, but haven't figured out the launch yet.

I have A032R's at 20psi, and when I would drop the clutch like I used at about 3500 rpm the car bogs down. I tried a couple of times dropping it about 4500 rpm (I think, hard to pay attention, have to get away from the competitiveness of a drag strip and practice) and it would do a couple harsh wheel hops and go. I had the most success with letting it slip a little then letting it out, but I could smell my clutch and I know there's a better way.

ErnieT, you had cautioned me a little while ago that I shouldn't go non-seq, but you seem to like it now (what changed?) and you've got very good power on the dyno and had some very good times at the strip, what was your technique when getting the 1.7s 60ft. I know you had slicks (what's a good online source?), what would you and other people that have gone non-seq recommend for both slicks and for street tire launches?

I have non sequentials and I got a 2.0 on my 60 ft with street tires. I launched at 4500 and slipped the clutch out. I messes up the clutch faster but you don't drag everyday so why not

Your right, at first I didn't like it, but after I got used to it, I would never go back.
You'll need some BFG drag radials to start. Don't get Nitto's, they suck. At the track, drop the tire pressure down to 15lbs. of air, do a good burnout. And launch it at 5900-6000rpms.....She'll scream out of the hole. One other thing, make sure you have a good clutch too. I have an ACT and love it.
One other note, if you start to wheel hop, just let out....its not worth your differential. Another reason I got the Kaaz diff.
Good luck...
Ernie
