Well... it's me the "not the coolant smell" guy, again... new prob.
Well it started up this morning w/out any hassle whatsoever. I was doing
some errans. I was coasting and tryed to put the car into gear... hmmm no go. Try again.... pull out clutch and put back in.... no go again... but went in fine on the 3rd try. Then I made it all the way home (thank god) and was in my driveway letting it cool down. I went to put it into gear to turn it off and... NOPE ... I don't think so! I couldn't get it into gear. I'm full on clutch fluid, the pedal is no different (still seems to have pressure). Once the car is off I can put it into gear and if I try and start the car it lurches. (Don't mean to jump to conclusions but...) Correct me if I'm wrong.... my clutch is gone isn't it? If not... what else could it be? I guess it IS time to pull that motor... maybe I'll just get a whole new getup.... single turbo time? ;) tia, Chris... |
noone?.... one person on the big list said it might be the pilot bearing. *shrug* I guess it's time to learn about transmisions.

what makes you think it's your motor?

Second is this new issue... the fact that can't put the car in gear unless it's off. Then if I have it in gear and try and start it... it will learch like I don't have the clutch pedal down. |
I think your clutch may be wasted...as far as your engine i'd get a compression check.

It sounds like your clutch master cylinder is cooked.

It sounds like your clutch master cylinder or release cylinder is cooked. NOT THE CLUTCH. Try to bleed it before changing any of cylinders out and keep the brake fluid level over 3/4 all the time. Brake and clutch share the same fluid. If you get a full clutch after bleeding it the fix is probably temporary. If the clutch did not slip when it was working correctly the problam is not the clutch it is in the hydraulic stuff. Beware of advice that says to change stuff because it may be the problem......there is alot of that kind of advice in this forum. This car will be expensive enough with out doing unnecessary work.
