weird sound when pressing clutch pedal

Getting a weird sound plus a slightly weird feeling when im pushing down on the clutch pedal.

Recently I noticed my brake fluid was low as my hand brake light came on. I thought my pads were getting low. Filled brake fluid (used prestone dot 3) to max line on the reservoir.

Noticed today while driving a slight different feeling as the clutch pedal reaches fully depressed state. The initial push is fine but as you go down to the floor, id say the last 3 inches of play feelings weird.

The best way I can describe it is a spring that was slightly rusted and creaks as you press it, and that it needs to be oiled.

When I got home I played with the clutch and noticed a "knock" sound at the time I felt the "weird feeling". Its not a loud knock, it's more of a spring loaded device that was being put under tension very slow. That type of sound and feeling. Very hard to explain.

Driveability is NOT affected. Clutch operates perfectly fine. Brakes work perfectly fine. No leaks and brake reservoir shows no sign of losing fluid somehow.

Will provide video when I get home but for now I just wanna know what people think.

Thanks in advance.

Could be a throw-out bearing, but I'm not 100% on that. I had to replace one on my M3, and prior to it being replaced it made somewhat of a buzzing noise while the clutch was depressed.

I dont think so. I had a TO bearing issue a while back. Had that replaced along with the pilot bearing.

Maybe clutch fork??

But listening to it closely, it seems like the sound is coming from the foot well, probably from the actual clutch pedal assembly.

I went down there for the first time and saw what it looks like LOL.

There is actually a spring and some arm that moves the clutch pedal. Well i took some WD-40 and sprayed the hell out of everything, the spring, the joint for the arm that moves the clutch pedal etc. Doesnt seem to help much. But again like i said the actual clutch pedal operation is NOT affected, i just feel something weird and a knock sound.

Here is the video.

Please put the volume UP so you can hear the knock.

The knock is at :02 and again at :06.

Its when my foot goes towards the floor, you will hear a "THUD THUD" sound.

Maybe possible master cyl failure??

I hope not.

Transmission input shaft bearing !

It's aluminum up there, where the rod connects. Maybe the round hole has become a slot? Get down under there again and see. :)

The fix is to drill the hole out larger, tap in a bearing and stake it in. I don't recall whether you need to weld some extra aluminum there, to build the material up before you drill. Also don't recall the bearing specifics. I bet someone who's done the mod will chime in soon.

did you ever adjust the clutch pedal rod? try loosening the lock run of the rod and unscrewe the rod so that in can press on the master cylinder. then try it again. I had a similar problem but came to find out that the master cylinder was rusted internally causing the plunger not to work properly.

I never touched clutch pedal assembly, nor the travel or anything.

I just looked under there out of curiosity by where the clutch switch is and noticed how the actual mechanism worked lol.

Then i took WD-40 and sprayed all moving parts while i was pumping the clutch with my hand.

It seems like that actual moving mechanism for the clutch assembly is probably what im hearing/feeling. Actual hydraulic pressure hasnt changed or been affected.

I dont want this to be added to my list of things to be paranoid about with this car so should i just leave it if it doesnt affect driving? Or should i pursue and try to trace down this sound/feel?
