Weird interior door trim out of an 1992 FD3S
 

I started removing my interior panels and here is something I didn't find any info on after a lot of research.

Here are the picture of the RHD passenger door handle trim. There is a weird hole covered with a plug and some vinyl.

From what I can tell, the RHD part numbers are :
F10068DDYE-00 and F10068DDXE-00

I did not find any pictures online of the actual trim with this weird hole in it. Only ones I found are LHD ones.

Looks like there is some kind of electric circuit tape stuff attached to it...

I teared down another RHD passenger door interior I has the same pieces on it.

Any ideas on the purpose of those ??
My guess is a kind of static removal device since it's bolted to the frame.

Yep, you got it. Only the 93s had these, it was a good idea but the part itself was crap and they ALL break like yours.

You can get the 94 up part or get the aluminum one from rotary13b, but I don't know if they have a RHD version. There is a difference in this part between LHD and RHD.

Worst case scenario, find a used or new RHD part. It's worth fixing, that broken pad just sucks and sucks every time you get in and out of the car.

What dose the 94s look like then ? I thought the padded version is 94s

I'm not entirely sure when they stopped those pads, my 94 didn't have them. The cups look identical, just no pad.

+1 on the Rotary13b1 aluminum door cups. Installed them in my FD and they feel SOLID

They don't work with what the OP is trying to do.

His car is 1992 like mine. Which means its JDM.
Which means RIGHT HAND DRIVE.

All those alloy door pulls are for the wrong cars. US cars are LEFT HAND DRIVE so they are useless products to people like us.

It was supposed to ground out the static electricity from your hands, but they always broke free and fell into the door panels. The updated door cup was solid without the static pad. Get the aluminum ones. The plastic ones break regardless of the style.

Has stated multiple times, I can't. It's an RHD, and they dont make them for RHD. I can't even find OEM one for RHD lol

Then I would just go with the updated solid plastic version.

Amusing--I posted almost the exact same photos in this thread. I affixed the button back on with super glue and it has held just fine since then.

Nothing else was wrong with my door trim so I didn't have to worry about replacing anything.

So you glued the pieces together on the vinyl ? (the only contact point between the pieces)

Yes, basically I put a few dots of superglue on the old plastic weld spots, and I think I might have put a bit more around the entire rim of the button's flange. It seems to be very sturdy.

I need to reenforce and repair the passenger handle also.. lot of patience needed lol.
