weird electrical (?) problem - seatbelt light
 

My seatbelt warning light is flicking on and off with a turn signal-like rhythm (including the noise!!). Very annoying - in addition, the windows are opening and closing in the same rhythm (stop, go, stop, go...). Haven't noticed any other issues as yet.

Any ideas?

Obviously, there isn't a seatbelt & window blinker. ;) The car is either possesed, or something is shorted or miswired.

Are the windows pulsating when you press the button, or are they moving by themselves? The window "system" is just a couple of motors and a couple of switches that gets power fed by the ignition switch. If they're pulsating when you press the switch, it could be because a blinker is shorted, causing a serious load to the power system and power-starving the windows each time the blinker blinks ON.
If the windows are moving by themselves, you have a serious short and I'd be wary of driving the car until this is resolved.

CPU#2 takes care of the seatbelt warning light and switch. It, also, is the security system, which can blink lights and what not. Considering it taps into many things, like hazard flashers, I'd look there as a starting point. A short in CPU2 could cause a number of small annoyances like that. Try unplugging it and seeing if your problems disappear, or at least change behaviour.

*I'm speaking in terms of a US-spec '95, YMMV.

I was wondering whether a blinking seatbelt light actually had some sort of meaning (indicating a specific problem)... or whether it is possessed...

The window issue is only occuring when activated. When the window button is depressed (either side), the window opens or shuts in a hesitant manner - in the same rhythm as the 'blinks' of the seatbelt light. Truely bizarre problem!

There is no security system (that I know of) in the car, factory or otherwise.

I've tried resetting the ecu, but to no avail.

I won't see the car again for a month (going on holiday this afternoon), so I'm praying that it will be miraculously 'fixed' when I get back (umm... probably not)

If you do have a "CPU2", I'd still start looking there.

I have this -exact- same problem.

Seat belt light blinking.. Windows go up and down in exact time to the blinking.

Me too. But it stopped once. When the battery was fully charged. I have removed the seatbelts, can you wire them in so that there is no problem?

I have exactly same problem with belt-light + windows and also I have some kind of problem with the engine, lot of backfire and pops, is that possible that there is factory security system and it wont let fuel pump work correctly?

yeah, i also have this problem. It used to work every now and then and i would hear a "beep" like if something was loose then got connected. my windows rolled up and down like normal and the seatbelt light went off.......then after a while it went back to being messed up. (this affects both my windows)

i recently swapped my dash so i took a look at all the electrical but could not find anything out of the ordinary.

another forum said that it is the relay box under the dash (JDM) i have been lazy and havent checked but i dont even know what to look for exactly. i have a new battery and my alternator is good.

anyone else have ideas or a solution?

I have this problem too. seatbelt light blinks all the time regardless, and starts to beep whenever the seatbelt isn't clicked in. although i don't have the
window problem...

Same problem here. Car is a 94 jdm. Someone needs to find a solution asap.

As the poster suggested above it is likely CPU #2 at fault. I would buy a used one in the classifieds and swap it in to see if the problem goes away.

I have the exatc same problem.
Not only the windows wind down with the same pulse but when timed wrong you can't even start the engine.
I do believe the problem is cpu related and has got something to do with moisture.
When i drive the car for about 10 minutes with the heater turned on a bit and blowing on the feet the problem goes away.

Sorry for the old thread revival but I had the same problem it turned out to be the F100 black box (JDM) Rx-7 they are F110 on newer cars, not sure on the number for US RX's but it will be the same black box.

So gonna bump the thread, my seat belt light flashes and dings when not buckled up, it just flashes when buckled up. Windows pulse with the seatbelt light.
I replaced the unit called F100 in my jdm. And my issue didn't go away, it's exacly the same. Any other ideas?

F100 & F101 refer more to the car being an automatic or manual.

There are differences in CPU#2 if the trans is manual or auto. IIRC (and dont quote me here because it might be vice versa) F101 is for an auto car, F100 is for a manual.

If you have an F100 CPU#2, try replacing it with an F101. It wont work, and wont plug in, because the electrical plugs are different.

If your car has F100 CPU#2, you need to replace it with F100 CPU#2, for example.
Hopefully this saves someone buying the wrong CPU#2 online, getting it home only to find it does not plug in :)

I have the same problem and just read that some guy solved this by opening the cpu#2 and replacing some burned capacitors with new ones from radioshack.
He tared appart an old 90's radio and found what he needed for the parts they didn't have.
I think I'll try this and if I mess up, then I will buy another cpu#2.
