weight of engine?
Looking to find a ball park figure of how much my engine weighs with just block, intake manifolds, power steering braket and pump. any one got an idea i was think 200-300 pounds? somewre in there?

Well, the short block itself is about 200 lbs. The intake manifolds are about 30-50 lbs altogether. The P/S bracket is like 5 lbs and the P/S pump is around 10 lbs. You do the math. But if you want the long block assembly, I think that's around 700 lbs.

A complete engine with turbos and all accesories weighs in right around 400lbs.
The trans weighs around 90lbs IIRC. |

Renesis 303 lbs last generation rotary engine (FD REW) 344 lbs This is pretty close to the total Scotty305 came up with adding up the weights chillin_rx7_guy posted in the thread above. For comparison, a very light aluminum 346 c.i. V8 LS-1 weighs 390-400 lbs as longblock, ~460 lbs with assesories and 497 lbs fully dressed... http://corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/z06/ls1ls6.html |

That estimate actually matches pretty well with your numbers. A LS1 converted FD will add about 60lbs to the weight of the car. Consider in the conversion you'll lose the cats, put in a smaller battery, ditch the IC and piping, etc so you'll lose some of the 90lbs added in engine weight and end up with a car that weighs about 60lbs more than stock. |
