water temperature sensor?

Hello! suddenly after some "spinning around" the water temp showed 0 celsius....
and never worked again...
when i turned the ignition to the "ON" position the red bulb which shows "add coolant" turns on , and when i turn on the cars engine it goes OFF again....but the temp stays to zero point all the time....
The thermostat seems to work cuz i saw the fans working....
Also an electrician took off the speedometer, etc and checked it and told me that the "needle" of the water temperature is working right

What should i check? is there any sensor that may have been off and where can i locate it?

do you have a stock or aftermarket water temp gauge?

It could be a bad coolant temp sensor, or it could be that your gauge shit the bed(though that's less likely).

If you're using the stock gauge, I wouldn't worry about it much and just get an aftermarket unit. As RP put it "the stock gauge has 3 settings. Off, On and 'You just cooked your motor'."

The red light and associated buzzer is the coolant LEVEL sensor, not to be confused with the TEMPERATURE sensor and rest of the stock TEMP gauge.
