Water temp gauge Installation
Can you hook up an autometer water temp gauge to the stock wiring or do you have to hook up all new wirings? Anyone know a thread that shows how to install it?

No, the gauge and the sender after to be installed and wired separately from the stock system. There are several locations where the sender can be installed:
* Replaces the hex bolt on top of the t-stat housing * Drill and tap the lower t-stat houing * Use an adapter and install into Throttle Body coolant line * Use an adapter an install into radiator hose After that, it's just hooking up the wires. |
Ok, I got the FC thermoswitch and could not figure out how to get the alternator off. Are any of these places down where the thermoswitch is? Also, I just got it from a friend and don't think I have the sender. Where can I get it from?

Try contacting Autometer, however it will probably be cheaper to just buy a new setup from them. Did you only get the gauge itself? Nothing else?
As far as the Thermoswitch location, the t-stat housing is in that vicinity, but not the exact same spot. The Thermoswitch goes on the firewall side of the waterpump housing. The t-stat housing is on the front bumper side of the waterpump housing. |
thermostat housing is the best place. Will take a 3/8" NPT x 1/8" bushing.
