Water leak from bottom rad hose
 

A bit of a long shot, but just wondering if water leaking from the bottom hose indicates any other probs:confused:
Checked the hoses and clips and they all seem fine, the coolent seems to be leaking from the engine side of the bottom hose not the radiator end, Tried topping it up but now have the fans coming on all the time so i presume theres now a air-lock:confused: Coolent temp as never gone over 78
Any ideas:Wconfused

If you still have the stock twins it could be one the coolant lines for them. There is a line that returns coolant back into the lower engine water pump housing.

I just took a pic for you and circled it. Check all your coolant lines also.

water pumps leak out of the bottom via a weep hole when they are on the way out. check that also.

And it looks like it is coming from the bottom hose... I know - that's what my water pump leak looked like.

Sounds a possible:wallbash: funny thing is it started leaking then stoped (with coolant in) then started again;-( Water pumps = Expensive?? just out of interest its a single turbo set-up

Probably me getting paranoid now, All toped up with coolant and the leak seems to have stopped BUT the fans are switching on at about 85c on the power FC commander and staying on, the temp on my aux gauge is reading about 74c taken from the top hose, the bottom hose is really cool? presume that's norm? above temps with the car running at idle.
Maybe just me getting paranoid not wanting to overheat the engine which is due for a re-map in about 200mls after a rebuild.

I have the exact same leak on my car. I removed the water pump and housing and replaced the gaskets. When I had it off, I cleaned up the nipple that the hose goes to and reinstalled. I ran the car a short distance then returned and parked it. Noticed steam and some hissing and it was coming from that hose. I was thinking about changing it when I had it all out, but didn't due to time constraints. Now I am regretting it. I just bought both of the hoses off of Malloy Mazda (Ray Crowe) and they were around $20 total for both. This hose is the one going to the turbos. The other one is above it with the extra insulation around it (same diameter). Replace both while you have it apart.

Eventually it will either blow or seal itself up. That is what happened originally with mine, it swelled and deposits built up on the nipple. When I removed it and cleaned it, the hose was too big and the clamp would not seal it. It eventually might build up with crap again and seal, but I am not taking that chance.

PS Looks like Ray has a complete cooling hose kit for $160 also if interested.

Its quite difficult to deduct where the leak is if you still have the undertray (the plastic underneath the engine). THe water will find its way out through a passage in the undertray and may give the wrong place where to look for leaks.

P.s also check if the plastic water bottle is already full. It may spill water when the overfilled. (This may happen when the car is hot and water goes to the tank. If the tank is all full to the brim, then it will spill.)
