Water Jacke Modification

I saw this at Jedon website. What do the ribbings do for the water jacket, better heat transfer?

But they're no ribbed (for her pleasure) through out the water jacket. So what's the point of just ribbings near the front?

More surface area makes better heat transfer .AN air cooled engine has cooling fins for heat transfer. break them off and it will run hot. Try putting fins on the bottom of the oil pan to cool the oil better, any one beside Garfinkle do that .

If you could design a tool that could rib it all the way through I'm sure he would have used it! Ribbing only near the front I'm sure is due to something called "practicality".

The ribs are near the combustion area. It's a real pain in the ass to make all those with a die grinder. It was an extra $200 but I think it really helps keep temps down. The theory is that it not only increases surface area but also turbulance. I also use NPG+ to avoid steam hot spots and a Koyo to provide more cooling.

Where's the groove for the coolant seal?

Is that a ceramic coating inside the housing?

Why are the spark plug holes different sizes?

BigIslandSevens 08-01-03 08:31 PM

coolant grooves are on the cast irons. Don't know but interested on the ceramic coating. All the plug holes are that way. It has to do with the firing off the leading and trailing plugs(as if you couldn't figure that part out) I don't know the exact science of it though, Sorry!

I didn't notice about the ceramic coating.

The oem coating is a chrome plating with micro-cracks formed in the coating to retain oil for lubrication.

So is it a ceramic coating?
