water inside pass. floorboard, help!
 

Help,
I was taking out my passenger seat and noticed water had soaked where the pass. feet would be. It was drenched. I can't find any drain lines, I guess they are clogged somewhere. I have a service manual, but no help. Any ideas?

Does it smell like coolant?

No coolant smell. I think it is either a clogged sunroof drain line or a clogged cowl drain line, but can't find either of them...

Or possibly something A/C related too. No water should leak into the car from a clogged cowl drain - sunroof, maybe.

sorry cant help but i can tell you this. dont drive your car! take your ecu out, you dont want that thing to get fried now do you?

It is the drain line for the A/C. Just look where the firewall is on the passenger side in the cabin and there is a hole. A hose is suppose to go though that hole to drip condensation and whatnot. The hose is just dripping inside. The same thing happened to me.

Would this happen even if I never use my A/C? Hasn't worked for two years. Also, how do I find the sunroof drain?

i had the same problem. it turned out to be the ac drain line. make sure your drain line is not loose, or popped out. hope this helps.

Probably should have mentioned that I can take my hand and twist water out of the rubber underside. It is soaked!

did it rain recently? was your car parked outside? if yes then i would be woried about the weather stripping/drains

ive been fighting water under my passanger carpet too, Im about to pull the seat out, pull up the carpet and have my friend stand over the car with a hose.... The mildew smell is already taking effect :(

I had worse. Put a half full quart of milk on the floor wedged in other cargo. Unfortunatly, I then drove on the best "fun road" in the country. The milk spilled. I had to wash the foam out with about 15 gallons of water to get all the milk out of it (soak and work - vacuum water out, soak and work - vacuum water out, etc.). It can cause an even worse smell than mildew! I now only carry such things in the hatch. Much easier to clean out if spilled!

It's most likely the A/C drain hose. It gets popped out of its' firewall hole very easily. Just pull back the carpet to check. The A/C will also come on when you select defrost, so "not using it" may not apply.

If you have the sunroof, roll it open and inspect the drain line openings. If they plug, you can get water to run down the inside of the interior panels onto the floor. Passenger side would be the most likely place for it to end up as most roads you park on are cambered to that side.

Water leaks are fun ;) .

Try checking the exterior vents by the firewall where the base of the windshield is. What will happen is after time leaves will start to accumulate in the vents and block the water passage from draining out, and it will start to overflow into the interior of the car. Just remove the plastic grates by the firewall vent, and stick your hand in there, see if there are leaves in there, if so, this could be your problem, remove all the leaves and whatever else debris you find in there, run an open
hose to check and make sure the drain is clear this should solve your problem IF that's where it's clogged.
