washed the car now wont starts but it cranks

its weird i washed my car yesterday and it shut off during the car wash guessing something got wet.

Here are the symptoms the car accessories turn on the the car will crank but will not start.

The power fc will light up and say apexi but the 13b menu thing doesnt come on.
yesterday i was messing with some relays and it wud come on and then the car will start no problem.

Basically with the power fc not coming on the car wont start.
The power fc "APEXI" menu will come on but the 13b menu wont come on.
Im trying to explain the best i can but its kinda confusing.

What relay triggers the power fc to come on all the way so my car can start any help or info wud be great. Thank You

Also anyone local that is very good with electric i will pay to help me troubleshoot my car. I live in lake forest ca 949 874 0152 thanks :) patrick.

did you wash under the hood?

1QWIK7 07-05-09 03:31 PM

^^Im assuming he went to a machine car wash cause he said it shut off during the car wash.

My only guess is that some wire somehow got wet. Meaning A wire(s) was exposed cause it to short out when it did get wet.

Thats my only guess.

I hate diagnosing electrical problems. Doing electrical work is easy but diagnosing them is a pain.

i think i may have narrowed it down to the secondary fuel pump relay... i donno lol

When I bought mine long ago, and first started washing it, I would start it, back it out of the garage, then shut it off. Maybe 10 or 15 seconds total running time. I later learned these cars do not like that and often will not restart, but will crank fine. Since then, I always let my car warm up a bit before I ever turn it off. Just curious, was yours warmed up before turning it off?

The way I get around it now is push it out of the garage, and only start it when done.

you used the wrong soap

lol j/k good luck

No its not a warming up or cold start issue.

Its weird i have a short somewhere in the engine wiring harness. I got the car to start yesterday and drove it around my neighborhood to see if it wud shut off and it wudnt it ran fine. This morning i tried to see if it was fixed but the relays goes crazy when i turn the key to the on position and the fans keep coming on when i turn the accesories on. Its really annoying and im getting very frusterated. I wish i could explain it better.

Check the battery? How much voltage is it putting out while running?

Which relays were you messing with??
Check TNS and associated relays in the front relay box. If these get wet or fail it can lead to starting issues, accessory issues, etc.

I really hope he's already done that. Any updates?

Crank angle sensor wires are wet possibly.remove the sensor plug, air dry(pressure) or get a paper towel(mechanic's towel) and dry, then crank.

Good Luck

The car is currently at lucky 7 in duarte. Hopefully they can figure it out. Although the car has been there a little longer then expected.

Call them and tell them to dry the CAS,and that you'll pick it up shortly after it starts!

One can only hope!

I would take a Hair dryer to all the Connectors.
Leave the car in the sun with the HOOD UP.

Mahjik 09-06-09 10:52 AM

Guys, read the thread. He took the car to a shop to have it looked at (over a week ago). Wait for him to respond with what's going on.

project3328 09-11-09 07:38 PM
