Voltage regulator
Hey so I have 93 rx7 that keeps popping voltage regulators. The battery is in stock location pulleys are stock. I replaced the charging harness bought a new battery and alternator, I went to the local auto parts store to get the battery and alternator tested and right off the bat I'm told my voltage regulator is bad... Wierd thing is I still drove the car for like 3-4 months no problem until the battery died. Any idea what might be going on?

Sorry for replying to an old thread and the rookie question but is the voltage regulator inside the alternator or is it an external component |
Danny,
The voltage regulator is an internal component in most modern alternators. The FD alternator has one included. If you suspect the alternator is bad then remove it and have it load tested at your local auto parts store. Alternately, perform the alternator checks included in the FSM. |
What is your voltage with the car running around the time the regulator goes?
