Vmop (OMP) volts fault

Hi all,

my heat light is flashing and vmop is highlighted on my commander it is reading 0.89 most of the time tick over under load etc sometimes goes up as far as 1.75 but usually stays around 0.89 0.93 0.103 etc

any ideas what is causing this to be low ? do these sensors go in the omp ?
the omp does not seem to be leaking as it is dry down there the only oil i can see around the engine is around by the power steering pump and reservoir.

any advice appreciated

thanks

Are your oil metering lines completely filled with oil?

Until you get this sorted I suggest you add premix to your fuel just to be safe.

I'm having the same issue. That basically means the OMP is not working properly. The voltage reading is in the Factory Service Manual and iirc is supposed to follow the same voltage range as the TPS. I can't explain why its happening.

Start premixing until you figure it out.

I have disconnected the electrical plug to the OMP (under the intake elbow) so that I can control how much oil each rotor is getting by premixing.

thanks, i am premixing how much should i be putting in though ?

yes there is oil in the oil pipes, as the omp is mechanicaly operated would this not just be a sensor fault ? is the sensor change able on these or is it complete with the omp,

will hopefully get car up on ramp onweekend so i can trace the wiring to see if there is any damage to the wiring as i have read they can cut through on the pulleys sometimes.

thanks guys

I put 4 ounces of idemitsu premix with each full tank of gas. My omp is still operational though.

Most of the recommendations are to premix on a 1 once per Gallon ratio when you don't have an OMP. Search these forums for "premix" or "pre-mix" for more.

With the OMP only partially working it probably doesn't pump sufficient oil in the upper rev/load ranges. If you are premixing at a 1:1 ratio and the OMP is connected and squirting oil on whatever ratio it is using at that voltage reading, chances are you may be injecting too much oil in lower rev ranges. This is why I wound up unplugging my OMP.

Download the manuals here and check them out for troubleshooting procedures. There were a bunch of OMP related threads on this forum that I've used for reference on this issue if you want to search for them.

where by can i down load the manuals etc ?

thanks

Hey I know this is an old thread, but my car isn't boosting and I have no boost leak and have changed the actuator like 4 times now, and I noticed on my power fc that my vmop is only at 1.87 volts and won't go much higher under load maybe like 1.89 at most what's goin on? Could it be put in limp mode? That's what another guy was saying

Brianben 09-01-13 06:07 PM

Could the vmop be a cause of this?

FD_virus85 09-03-13 06:35 AM

Can your car smoke because Vmop is not working proper?

RENESISFD 09-03-13 08:18 AM

The PFC does not have a limp mode, so a failed OMP will not cause the car to run poorly due to the ECU detecting its malfunction because it does not have those built in safety features.

What is the mod list of the car?

Do you premix?

I just have the turbos running nonsequencial and I'm running the cosmo intake with the fd throttle body, I do think the omp is working right but now I think it's my map sensor, it's not seeing boost, because the voltage on that is supposed to change under load for that to and it doesn't, so I'm replacing that first, and then if my omp stays at the same volts I'm replacing that second

Brianben 09-03-13 11:02 AM

I did however during the wiring process wire my map sensor to a 12 volt instead of a 5 bolt..>=[[[[ so maybe it shorted it out or something, witch would be ok if that's my problem lol the rew is swapped into my fc

Rx_Sam 03-15-14 10:40 AM

i have reading of 0.98 volts and does not boost anymore and only can reach 4000 rpm.
i just have my engine tuned. and after then it was engine light flashing and looked at the pfc and vmop was blinking.
i checked all wires if they were good. i placed an other OMP but still have the same problem.
i don't know what to do to fix. i also checked all hoses for vacuum leak everything is ok.
also when engine is getting warm i get more smoke in the rear and goes my a/f ratio to 14 - 15
