VMOP flashing on Power FC

I noticed today that the VMOP is flashing. Car has been down for a couple of months due to starter and battery problems which I finally fixed. Checked the sensors screen just for giggles today and noticed that the VMOP was highlighted and flashing on/off every few seconds. I read the PowerFC manual but don't really know what it might mean. Anyone have any input? Thanks.

Don't drive the car. That is the oil metering pump, which supplies all of the internal engine lubrication. Get out the FSM and start troubleshooting. It's possible it's a wiring issue and not a mechanical problem.

I don’t ever remember reading, but does the OMP have a default setting of full on if failure occurs?

Having taken one apart I can hardly see if it was a mechanical failure of the stepper motor this could be, but it is a relevant question non the less.

Any input?

metering oil pump

YOu can also premix with two stroke oil in the mean time while you get the omp figured out.. about 1oz per gallon of gas seems to be the norm.

No it does not. When there's a problem, the stock ecu puts the car into limp home mode.

Thanks Tyler. I'll check the FSM and start testing. fun...

What a pita! I suck at electrical testing...

The PFC is showing .91 Volts when idling, driving, boosting etc and according to a few threads that I found on here, it should be following the TPS voltage.

Anyone have a pic of where the OMP is located. I've been searching to no avail. Do I need to remove the alternator or air pump to see it?

FSM isn't all that helpful for someone who doesn't already know where the frickin thing is.

i got 2 extra OMPs for sale!

Hopefully I don't need them. I'm hoping its just the wiring...

Shitty luck Alberto, when Ihor had your subframe dropped to do your oil pan, he could have easily replaced the oil metering pump. It's located on the bottom front passenger corner of the block.
