Veilside rear gate w/pics

Got the first Veilside rear gate in the states and did a test fit. Everthing fits perfect and the quality apears to be top notch. Take a look for yourself

Nice, but I don’t know how much I would like seein that pillar in my rear view.

SpeedKing 09-07-05 01:27 AM

Hey, nothing personal, but that "rear gate" is uglier than shit. :)

Chaosx1 09-07-05 01:45 AM

Out of curiousity, what's the point of it?

InvisibleMonkey 09-07-05 01:46 AM

i don't like it...honestly, stock looks better, it's cheaper, and you'd have more rear visibility, but that's why it's YOUR car

28 lbs. with the lexan windows,The stock one weighs in at 53 lbs.

Heisenberg 09-07-05 01:50 AM

Yikes!! How much does that thing weigh?? I personally have never been a fan of
Veilside, but if you like it thats all that matters.

InvisibleMonkey 09-07-05 01:56 AM

what about a CF rear hatch?

Bro, where in Brentwood do you live. I thought I was the only person in Brentwood with an FD. Sweet finally another FD owner.

gotorx7 09-07-05 02:44 AM

Looks like a 1950's Volkswagen :(

MadEoINoTaiwaN 09-07-05 02:53 AM

dclin 09-07-05 03:14 AM

Everybody now! "We all live in a yellow subma...." Sorry. :)

boostd2rtr 09-07-05 03:27 AM

What was the bill on that "rear hatch"....I know the Veilside Full Fortune kit costs around 15,000?!

yuichiror 09-07-05 07:32 AM

I think it looks pretty cool. Not all that practical, but it looks nice.

tdazmansFD 09-07-05 09:31 AM

It might look alright after it's painted. You are gonna paint it...right?

Yes I know about Ray Lochhead/shane racing but he lives out in the cuts of brentwood.

saxyman990 09-07-05 11:29 AM

Ummm.... well the important thing is that you like it.

I personally would hope that someone would slap me upside the head if I tried to put something like that on my car... talk about tacky.

Mp0629 09-07-05 11:47 AM

:puke: Wow that looks ugly. Stock looks way better. Just my $.02

lol

scotty305 09-07-05 01:27 PM

How much did reducing 25lbs cost you? What other weight-reducing mods have you performed?

Compilez 09-07-05 02:46 PM

Did the glass come with, and How much did that cost you?

If I had $15,000 to blow, I would get the Veilside Fortune kit. As a complete kit I like it, but I don't know if the hatch goes good w/out the rest of it.

It doesnt go good with the car unless you do have the rest of the fortune kit IMO.It really looks out of place.

FDNewbie 09-07-05 08:09 PM

So I'm the only guy who thinks the Fortune kit is a disaster? And this is coming from someone who actually likes the recent D1 type Veilside kit!

InvisibleMonkey 09-07-05 08:11 PM

i don't like the fortune kit...the back end looks ugly (something about the tail lights i don't like), the rest is pure sex

i personally think every veilside kit is a disaster. i hate them all, althought theres one thats ok...well the only one that doesnt make me run and cover my eyes ill put it that way.

i dont even know wtf is up with that hatch...im speechless...at 1st i thought it was some weird reflection of light but as i i scroll down no theres some weird fuckin think going down the center of the window :rlaugh:

does that wing come attached? at 1st i thought thats wat this was about. i kind of like it.

nopistons94 09-07-05 09:33 PM

poor poor cym

antiSUV 09-07-05 09:59 PM

I would like to see it without the wing, painted, and with dark tint on the lexan windows before I judge.

first you cant tint lexan and second i just dont like the piller goin up the middle, painted or not.

RX-7projectRX7 09-07-05 11:07 PM

I'd rather have the other FD in the background!

Not True at all...Lexan can come Tinted. Thats probably MR10 material....I used to cut and shipall the lexan sheet to customers. Its a pigment added to the raw material before extrusion. It has to be ordered though

BMike 09-08-05 10:30 AM

The fortune kit is one of the few veilside kits lately that I thought was halfway decent. But man that hatch is wierd. Kudos on having something original though I guess, probably won't see many of those stateside.

It's ok overall.

The thing that I really like is the headlight kit

Love it

Pretty sick! Question though, what's the procedure for the glass with this kit, does anyone know? Does it go over the stock hatch window or are these custom panels. If so, acquired where?

If weight savings was the primary goal, I'd say there are better options that would weigh the same, or less, and offer much better visibility. If you want to know what everyone else thinks, this will be jarring experience. I'm in the camp that does not like the looks - especially with the absence of the rest of the kit.

nlsolja123 10-31-22 05:48 PM

So the bodylines all for on a stick body ? Does that mean you could do the veilside with the oem hatch ?
